Reminders for a STRONG Spring Semester
Thank you for attending Parent Teacher Conferences! REMINDER we have an early release on 2/12 at 12:30pm
Thank you to everyone who attended our Parent-Teacher Conferences yesterday! We appreciate your engagement and support. If you have any further questions regarding your student's academic progress, please do not hesitate to reach out. As we prepare for a strong Spring Semester, we kindly ask for your support with the following reminders:
Dress Code & Uniform Reminders
Please see our reminders for students regarding dress code and uniform requirements.
- Middle School: Students must wear a YWA polo (with logo) and black bottoms. Skirts and shorts must be no more than three inches above the knee, as we have noticed some skirts are running too short. Please help us monitor this as we transition to warmer weather!
- Students out of dress code will be required to change, and parents will be asked to bring appropriate attire. Students will also be assigned lunch detention for violating YWA Dress Code Policy.
- The required bottoms must be uniform or dressy pants. The following are not allowed: baggy, cargo, yoga, jeans, or jogging pants, as they do not align with the uniform policy.
- High School: Students must wear the YWA uniform on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. They may wear college gear on Thursdays and have free dress on Fridays.
- Facial Piercings: Facial piercings are not allowed. Please review the dress code rules with your student. (See attached document).
- Make-up: No extreme/excessive make-up, no false eyelashes. No heavy foundation, eye makeup, dark colored lipstick for middle school students.
- We have recently had several students competing in school related events, including several students participating as ambassadors or leading tours. It is imperative that we follow dress code/uniform to reflect the expectations of the Academy. We need your help to ensure students follow dress code!

- Black skirt
- Blazer with YWA Logo
- Light Gray Cardigan
- White long- or short-sleeve button-up shirt
- Black uniform dressy pants

- To maintain consistency, all uniform items must be purchased from the designated store. No variations will be allowed beginning in the 2025-2026 school year (next year). More details will be shared in the coming weeks so you can begin preparing. A uniform sample is available for viewing in the front office/lobby. We will be working with families who need assistance.
Electronic Devices & Headphones
- Cell phones, electronic devices, and earbuds are not allowed in classrooms during instruction. These items should not be visible in hallways or other instructional areas for all students- middle and high school. Students are not permitted to wear headphones around their necks or in their ears at any time in the classroom or in the hallways, these items must be stored in their backpacks/purses.
- YWA is not responsible for lost or stolen electronic devices as they are not permitted on campus.
- Devices found in violation of these rules will be confiscated. Parents will be required to pay a $15 retrieval fee.
- We have discussed this rule with students on various occasions, warnings will not be issued.

Punctuality & Attendance
Thank you for your continued support in ensuring your student(s) attend school regularly. Consistent attendance is essential for their academic success and social development. We are currently ranked among the top 3 campuses in the district! Thank you parents for ensuring your students come to school every day; we appreciate your efforts! Students with excessive absences will be placed on a 45 day attendance plan and could face court and associated fees, to include a transfer revocation if absences are excessive.
Please ensure that your student arrives on time to school. The first bell rings at 8:20am, with instruction beginning at 8:30am. Breakfast ends at 8:20am; students will not be permitted to take food out of the cafeteria.
Any student who accumulates three or more tardies (either arriving late to school or between class transitions) will be assigned lunch detention.
Food & Drinks in the Classroom
Students are not allowed to bring food or drinks into the classroom. Middle Schoolers may not have food delivered, only parents can deliver food in person. Absolutely no food delivers accepted during instruction. Thank you for keeping our students safe by limiting visitors. Parents are always invited to eat with their students. Join us!
Eligibility for attending Extracurricular Activities/Sports and Field Trips
- Students must be in good academic standing to participate in sports, clubs, and local or out-of-town events.
- We have several field trips scheduled in the coming weeks. Students must maintain a 70% or higher in all classes, following the eligibility guidelines/dates, in order to attend/participate.
