A Message From Mrs. Carmody A Message From Mrs. Carmody

Dear Fremont Families,

As we wrap up February, I want to share how much I’ve enjoyed seeing our students settle into a productive rhythm this term. We are now looking forward to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences, which serve as a vital bridge between home and school. These conversations are the perfect time to celebrate your child's progress and align our goals for the remainder of the school year.

We are particularly excited to announce that an expert from The Reading League will be joining us on conference day. For the past few years, their team has been providing our staff with professional development on evidence-based literacy practices. This partnership ensures our teachers are using the most effective, research-backed methods to help your child become a confident reader. We invite you to take advantage of this unique opportunity to engage with them during your visit. No question is too small when it comes to supporting your child’s reading journey.

Supporting Literacy at Home: Parent Drop-In Sessions with The Reading League

Join us for casual conversation during parent-teacher conferences on March 5 and walk away with helpful literacy resources. Stefany Bragg, our district’s partner from The Reading League, will accompany FSD79 staff for these informal, 45-minute sessions designed for you to drop in at any time to discuss ways to support your child’s reading and writing journey. There are no formal presentations, so please stop by whenever it is convenient for you to chat and learn! Parents/guardians of all grades are welcome.

Location: ES Media Center

Times: 10:15-11:00, 1:45-2:30, and 5:00-5:45

Sincerely,

Beth Carmody

Principal

Spring into Success Spring into Success

As spring approaches, students are deep into projects, testing prep, and new concepts. Consistent attendance helps keep them on track. Let’s finish the third quarter strong by making attendance a family focus—while still respecting our health guidelines for when a child needs rest and recovery.

We Need Your Help - Only Two Weeks Left to Take the 5Essentials Survey! We Need Your Help - Only Two Weeks Left to Take the 5Essentials Survey!

Fremont School District 79 greatly values your feedback as it relates to your student’s educational experience. Once again, the State of Illinois has partnered with 5Essentials to create a forum by which you can provide your input.

We need at least a 20% response rate in order to receive a report and our current response rate for Fremont Elementary School is 15%.

If you have not already done so, we would greatly appreciate it if you would take the brief survey by visiting:

http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/

Your responses are vital for continuous improvement and long-range planning for your child's school. Parents are welcome to answer the survey for each of their children’s schools.

The deadline to complete the survey is March 13, 2026.
