Principal's Message
An Urgent Prayer for Peace, written by Michael McGirr (2023) and published by Caritas.
God of Compassion,
We turn to you with heavy hearts as we consider the needs of your family.
Israelis and Palestinians are all your people.
Each of us loved by You and called to live in peace and justice.
We lament the dreadful loss of life, destruction of property and loss of human dignity.
We are pained by so much suffering.
We beg you to bring peace to this ancient place. Help your people to find a way forward.
Enable everyone to look each other in the eye and embrace each other as sisters and brothers
as they find your image in every face.
We ask that courage and grace will help create a wiser and more gentle future,
where everyone has a home.
God of Wisdom, come to our aid. Amen

The Advisory Council enables these groups to meet and work together for the holistic development of our school.
What does the Advisory Council do?
• Supports the Principal in their leadership of the school;
• Is a resource when the Principal is planning for the present and future strategy of our school;
• Brings the voice of the community into our school; and
• Helps to build relationships across our Catholic school community
Who can be a member of the Advisory Council?
The Advisory Council reflects the diversity of our community ensuring the representation of different voices, experiences and perspectives. As a member, you must support the Catholic ethos, follow the school’s Code of Conduct and act in the best interests of our school. As a member of the Advisory Council, you represent the interests of all the partners within our school and work positively in the service of our Catholic school community.
The School Advisory Council has four meetings a year. These are held on Tuesday of the fifth week of the term. In addition, Council members attend the Community Annual Community Meeting held in November each year.
If you are interested in nominating for membership to the Advisory Council, current Council members will be happy to discuss their role with you. A nomination form is available from the school office. Nominations close 3pm Friday, 17th November.
A Message from the St Anthony’s Parents & Friends Committee
The P&F is a volunteer group of parents who provide the opportunity for parents, carers and friends of the school to meet, share and become a community that supports and encourages our students and staff in realizing the shared vision through community engagement and fundraising initiatives in addition to being positive advocates for the school.
All parents of enrolled students at the school are considered general members of the P&F. Friends are persons connected to the school community who do not have children enrolled at the school and are considered associate members.
The P&F meets twice a term - in Week 2 (morning meetings) and Week 7 (evening meetings). If you are considering being a part of the group, but find making two meetings a term difficult, the P&F will be making arrangements to enable participants to join via a video link.
The core of the group is the P&F Committee, each of whom are elected to office bearer positions.
The P&F have two office bearer vacancies; Secretary and Vice-Chair. We are therefore seeking nominations from interested community members who have the desire and time to devote to P&F meetings and functions.

Faith In Action
Peregrine
St Peregrine is a special saint who is known for helping people who are sick, especially those who have cancer. He's like a superhero in the world of saints! What makes St Peregrine so amazing is that he had a tough time in his own life and faced a serious illness, but through his strong faith and prayers, he was miraculously cured. This incredible miracle is why people often turn to him for help when they or someone they love is sick. St Peregrine teaches us that even in the face of challenges and sickness, we can find hope and strength through our faith and by asking for his intercession. So, when you or someone you know is going through a tough time with an illness, remember St Peregrine, the patron saint of the sick, who can be like a caring friend, praying for healing and comfort.
St Anne and St Joachim, the grandparents of Jesus, hold a special place in Christian tradition. Their role in Jesus' life is significant, as they were entrusted with raising Mary, who would become the mother of the Saviour. This unique family connection highlights the importance of grandparents in the upbringing and spiritual development of their grandchildren. St Anne and St Joachim serve as a powerful symbol of the love, guidance, and faith that grandparents can provide in shaping the lives of their grandchildren. Their influence reminds us today of the vital role that grandparents play in passing down traditions, values, and spiritual teachings to the younger generation, ensuring a strong and lasting legacy of faith and love.

Keeping Safe Curriculum: Protective Strategies
Dear St Anthony's School Parents,
We hope this message finds you well. Our commitment to your child's safety and wellbeing remains unwavering. As part of the Keeping Safe Child Protection Curriculum, we're focusing on Protective Strategies, equipping your children with essential tools to keep themselves safe. Here are the key strategies we're emphasising:
- Practice telling a trusted adult a problem: Encourage your child to confide in a trustworthy adult when faced with concerns or issues.
- Practice saying their name, address, and telephone number: Ensure your child knows this vital information by heart, aiding their ability to seek help or guidance when needed.
- Regularly review their trusted networks: Help your child identify the people they can turn to and keep this network updated.
- Practice problem-solving: Engage in activities like puppet play and role modeling to enhance their problem-solving skills in various situations.
- Practice assertive language: Teach your child to use assertive language like 'No' or 'Stop, I don't like it when you...,' empowering them to set boundaries.
- Be persistent in seeking help: Encourage them to keep asking for help until a trusted adult responds.
By instilling these Protective Strategies, we empower our children to navigate the world confidently and safely. Please engage with your child about these concepts, reinforcing their importance.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our students safe.

Pre-Primary News
We have been busy in Pre-Primary learning about the world, famous artists and how to write information reports.
In Geography, we have learnt about places we belong to and are special to us and how we can care for them. We even learnt about maps and how we can use them to find treasure! Arr, me hearties!
In Religion, we have learnt that even though families are made up differently they are all special and we must love and care for the people in our family.
We are becoming amazing writers and have written about emus, bears, geese and “cows that type”! We have written reports, letters and even our first narrative.
Hard to believe we have nearly finished the school year. We love spending time together and are looking forward to the fun we are yet to have.
Medical News
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is that time of the year again, unfortunately, where we see “gastro” taking flight in our communities! The weather is getting warmer, and this is when we tend to see the increase. Please can we all remain vigilant and remember to keep your children home if they are unwell.
Students are permitted to return to school - 24 hours after the child’s last symptoms (e.g., vomiting/diarrhoea).
Please continue to encourage your children to maintain their hand hygiene, washing hands regularly and/or using hand sanitiser.
Covid is still in our communities along with several other viruses. Let’s all work together to keep each other healthy.
Please click the link below for more information on gastroenteritis.
Warmest wishes,
Aleisha Raby
