On Tuesday and Wednesday this week, all FEB students will be taking the NYS CBT ELA exam. Below is important information you all need to know and was shared in Parent Square a few weeks ago.

  • Testing will begin at approximately 9:00 AM each day.

  • We anticipate returning to a regular school schedule by around 11:30 AM.

  • The exams are untimed; students who are actively working will be given the time they need to complete their assessments.

  • Students with testing accommodations will receive them in accordance with their individual learning plans.

  • All students will take the Computer-Based Test (CBT) unless otherwise specified in their accommodations.

  • Make-up testing sessions will be available following the scheduled dates through Friday, May 15 for both exams.

  • Get a good night’s sleep: Adequate rest supports focus and overall performance.

  • Eat a nutritious breakfast: A balanced meal helps fuel both the body and mind.

  • Charge and update Chromebooks: Please remind your child to fully charge and update their device the night before testing to prevent any technical issues.

Thank you to Ms. Tosi, Ms. Spedafino and the FEB Student Council for planning three amazing events for students next week.

First, in recognition of National Poetry Month, all of the classes created their own poems together. In the afternoon on Wednesday, 4/22, they will all gather at times indicated on the flyers above to share them with one another. Also on that day, we are asking students not to use any single use wrappers or containers in honor of Earth Day!

Lastly, since we have the NYS CBT ELA exam on Earth Day, we will be doing our part to save the planet by going to Florence Park on Friday, 4/24 as an entire school to do a clean up. The Rye Neck High School Eco Club will be joining us, too!

On Thursday, April 16, Rye Neck High School had a "Panthers with Purpose" Volunteer Day! As a part of this initiative, a group of students from RNHS came back to Bellows to engage students in a mural creation activity around their own purpose. Bellows students either created a heart or hand-shaped cut-out and on the inside, wrote what they hope their purpose in Rye Neck is or will be in the future. The high school students took all of these designs back with them and will be putting together a mural which will adorn the FEB hallways! We are excited to see it and will share it with the community as soon as it is completed.

This is to inform you that this week we will be conducting a Lockdown drill. The purpose of this drill is to ensure the safety and preparedness of our students and staff in case of an emergency. We conduct these drills regularly as part of our commitment to maintaining a safe learning environment.

Please rest assured that this is only a drill and not an actual emergency.

For any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Mr. Scarantino directly.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Class Placement for 2026-27 Class Placement for 2026-27

We are beginning the process of determining class placement for the 2026-27 school year.

Classroom placement is a process that takes teachers and staff many hours of careful thought and consideration. When constructing a classroom, we look at many different factors including learning abilities, peer relationships, class size, strengths and challenges, diversity, as well as other factors, to create classrooms that foster social and academic development for all children. As in the past, all classes will be heterogeneous, meaning they will reflect various abilities.

When making classroom placements, we always consider the individual child while recognizing that each child is part of a complex picture. We are committed to creating balanced classrooms. Once the classes have been formed, moving one child from the group can alter the stability of that balance and impact the overall makeup of the classroom. For this reason, once class placement is finalized, we do not move students from class to class.

It is always helpful to share this process with parents/guardians who can provide information about their children’s strengths, interests, and needs. This information, combined with input from your child’s current team and our knowledge of the instructional styles of teachers, helps us best place students. We invite you to complete this Google Form to offer input in this process.

2026-27 Parent Placement Input Form

As a reminder, this form only needs to be completed if your child will be entering 4th and/or 5th grade at FEB in the fall.

Please do not submit a request for a particular teacher as there are many factors to be considered when constructing a classroom. Also, we do not place students with "friends", but academic peers. We ask that you do not send a teacher any requests for your child to be placed in this way.

Typically, there will be more than one teacher or classroom whose style will work well with your child. Our teachers and staff spend many hours considering the best learning environment for each student and we ask that you trust our process. They also consider strong and healthy peer matches across all the classrooms.

Placement information is due no later than Thursday, April 30, 2026. Due to building-level scheduling and placement deadlines, we will not be accepting submissions after April 30th. This includes any emails sent after the fact.

Class placement information will be released in late August with our opening day/placement letter.
