Parking
Reminder: The City of Red Deer placed new signs in front of our school. The section out front of our main doors has now been split into three sections. As you pull up, the first section is a City Bus lane with no public parking. The second section is RDCRS specialized bus lane with no public parking between the hours of 8-9am and 2:30-3:30pm. The third section is student drop and go with where drivers must remain in their vehicles. The North Parking Lot, located closest to the Foundations and Blended Program entrance, is designated for guest and parent parking. Some staff will also be required to park in this lot. The South East lot, near the Grade 9 doors, is reserved for staff parking and the bus roundabout—parents are asked not to park in this area. Finally, we ask all families to be mindful of our neighbors by avoiding parking in front of houses or in nearby alleys, as this creates safety concerns. This is especially important on game nights when we have an abundance of visitors parking near the school.

🏃♂️ Physical Education Update
Welcome back from Spring Break! We’ve jumped right back into our fitness unit this week.
Grades 7–9: Most classes will be finishing the fitness unit by the end of this week.
Grade 6: Classes will wrap up the fitness unit at the beginning of next week.
Thank you for your continued effort and participation as we build toward our upcoming Track and Field unit! 💪
🏃♀️ Grade 6 Track & Field Day
All Grade 6 students will participate in our Track and Field unit and will have the exciting opportunity to attend a city-wide Track and Field Meet on June 2.
The event will take place at Woody’s Athletic Park, where students will compete alongside their Grade 6 peers from across the city.
This is a fantastic opportunity for all students to showcase their skills, build confidence, and experience a large-scale athletic event in a fun and supportive environment!
🏃♂️ Grade 7–9 Track & Field Update
Our Track and Field season is quickly approaching, and we’re excited to see students in Grades 7–9 get involved!
Event Dates
Grades 7 & 8: Scheduled for May 26 (weather permitting)
Rainout Date: June 1
Grade 9: Scheduled for June 3 (rain or shine)
Qualification Process
To help create a more competitive and meaningful experience:
Grade 7: Top 5 students per event, per gender will qualify
Grade 8 and 9: Top 3 students per event, per gender will qualify
This updated format, implemented over the past two years, has helped raise the level of competition and provide a strong representative team.
Tryouts & Participation
We will aim to complete tryouts during regular PE classes. However, if there is high interest in specific events, additional after-school tryouts may be scheduled.
With five classes in both Grade 7 and Grade 8, we are committed to giving all students an opportunity to try out. That said, due to increased transportation costs and funding limitations, not all students will be able to attend the final meet.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to an exciting Track and Field season!
🏃♀️ Parent Volunteers – Track & Field
We are always grateful for extra support during our Track and Field events!
If you are interested in helping out on your child’s designated Track and Field day, we would love to have you involved. Volunteers play an important role in helping events run smoothly and ensuring a positive experience for all students.
If you have a current Criminal Record Check (within the last two years) and are available to assist, please reach out to Miss Streit for more information. If we have too many volunteers, you are always welcome to come to the grounds to watch your child during the day they are participating.
🏃♂️ Track & Field Support – Donations Welcome
As we prepare for our upcoming Track and Field season, we will also be looking for donations of bottled water to help keep our athletes hydrated throughout their events.
If you are able to support this, please drop off bottled water at the school office at your convenience.
We truly appreciate the generosity of our school community in helping make these events a positive experience for all students!
