UIL Concert and SIght Reading
Symphonic Band goes to UIL on Wednesday, March 27th, and Wind Ensemble goes to UIL on Thursday, March 28th. We are the only 4A school in our district sending two bands, and we are very proud of everyone’s hard work in preparing for the evaluation. Parent are welcome to attend the concert and sight reading portion of the contest. Video/audio recordings are not allowed in the sight reading room.
Students need to bring these items with them to school the day they go to UIL.
- Black dress shoes (closed toe), black crew length socks or hosiery, white undershirt for boys.
- Money for Pizza at Peter Piper Pizza - you will have some time to play games if you would like.
- Bring your school clothes with you on the bus so you can change out of your tux/dress at Seguin HS before getting food.
- 7:45 am - Call Time - Donuts provided
- 8:00 am - Warm Up
- 8:45 am - Load truck and change into concert uniforms
- 9:15 am - Leave DHS
- 10:15 am - Arrive at Seguin HS
- 10:55 am - Warm Up
- 11:30 am - Concert
- 12:00 pm - Sight Reading
- 12:20 pm - Take picture, change clothes, and load
- 1:15 pm - Peter Piper Pizza
- 2:00 pm - Leave for DHS
- 2:30 pm - Back on campus - Go to 6th period :)
Wind Ensemble - Thursday, March 28th
- 7:00 am - Call Time - Donuts provided
- 7:15 am - Warm Up
- 8:00 am - Load truck and change into concert uniforms
- 8:30 am - Leave DHS
- 9:30 am - Arrive at Seguin HS
- 9:55 am - Warm Up
- 10:30 am - Concert (updated time as of 3/20)
- 11:00 am - Sight Reading
- 11:20 am - Take picture, change clothes, and load
- 12:15 pm - Peter Piper Pizza (bring $$$ for lunch)
- 1:15 pm - Leave for DHS
- 2:00 pm - Back on campus - Go to 6th, 7th period only
TCGC State for Varsity Winter Guard
Congratulations to the Varsity Winter Guard for advancing to the state competition for the third consecutive year! We also want to congratulate our friends at Smithson Valley HS for also advancing. The TCGC state competition is on April 6th at Reed Arena on campus at Texas A&M University. Our performance is at 2:12 pm. We are tentatively planning on departing for College Station on Saturday, April 6th at about 8 am and staying at a hotel Saturday evening. We will have a rehearsal the morning of state at a local high school before we go do our performance. We will release more information as it becomes available. Band Banquet
Band Banquet is May 11th at the New Braunfels Civic & Convention Center. More info can be found here.
Doors open at 5:30
Dinner & Banquet Start at 6:00
Followed by Student Dance and Giveaways until 10:00

Comal ISD District Band Senior Scholarships
Comal ISD will again be offering Comal ISD District Band Scholarships. We don't have an exact number or amount for the scholarships yet. The scholarship application deadline is April 1st and the recipients will be announced at the Fine Arts Award Ceremony on May 1st in the Canyon HS PAC.
Band Booster Scholarship Info
Info and requirements for the Davenport Band Booster Senior Scholarships can be found here.
Five $500 scholarships will be awarded at the Spring Concert on May 13th.
Please note that the deadline to turn the application items in to Mr. Keyes is Monday, May 1st. Transcripts can be downloaded and printed from skyward by clicking on the portfolio tile.

Invoices for past due band and color guard fees were handed out to students in class last Tuesday. Obligations for past due fees will be turned in to the front office at Spring Break. Fees can be paid here. Please email Mr. Keyes at jeffrey.keyes@comalisd.org if you have any questions or concerns.
South Padre Island Trip Meeting
We are having a mandatory trip meeting on April 15th at 6:30 pm. Please mark your calendars. A parent and the student going on the trip must attend this meeting.
