Field Day--Monday, June 5

Thank you for patiently awaiting the field day information! Please read the information I've included carefully so that you are ready and organized for field day. Remember, we are attempting a new approach this year to eliminate the need to come back in the evening for the kickball game and school-wide meal. We will give this a try this year, and if we need to make changes for the following year, we can certainly do that. If you see Catherine Kirshenbaum, please give her a HUGE shoutout for all of her work to make this a delightful day for our students.

Field Day Schedule:

*Lower elementary classes (Y5 - 2) will participate in field day from 9:00 - 11:15

*Upper elementary classes (3 - 5) will participate in field day from 12:30 - 2:50

*The 5th grade vs. Staff kickball game will begin promptly at 3:00, with popsicles provided for all students.

Lunch Schedule:

3rd, 4th, 5th, Eat 11:15, Recess 11:40 - 12:05, Field day Begins at 12:30

Y5, K, Eat 11:45, Recess 12:10 - 12:35, Field day is in the morning from 9:00 - 11:15

1st, 2nd Eat at 12:10, Recess 12:35 - 1:00

Lunch will be hot dogs, chips, and fruit. Students will get a disposable tray and head to the front lawn area of the school to eat. While you are entitled to a duty-free lunch, this would be a wonderful opportunity for you to share a special day and lunch with your students. All teacher lunches will be covered by Lisa. Please sign up for the hot dog lunch if you plan to eat with your students. Complete this by 10:00 am on Tuesday.

Students will need to remain away from Field Day activities on the playground when it is their recess time. At lunch recess, Y5 - 2 students should remain in the mulch area only, which is why we have split you into two groups.

Please plan to take blankets out to the lawn out front for your class to eat on.

Teachers will need to split your entire grade level into 4 groups. This would be a nice opportunity for students to spend time with students from the other grade-level classrooms. After splitting them into five groups, assign a color based on the following:

Y5/K - orange, green, yellow, & teal

1st - blue, green, yellow, & teal

2nd - teal, blue, orange, & yellow

3rd - blue, green, yellow, & teal

4th - orange, green, teal, & blue

5th - yellow, orange, blue, & green

*Coordinating wristbands will be provided for all the classrooms by Friday, June 2.

Please follow the Lincoln Field Day Schedule to know where your grade level will need to be and at what time they should be there. Once at the assigned area rotation, your grade level will be broken down into 4 stations based on group color. As teachers, please monitor those 4 areas to ensure that students are being respectful and responsible while participating.

If you have a special during your field day time, itinerant teachers will relieve you and follow your class during that time. Next year, we will work to ensure that your field day time does not fall during your specials. This year, however, we will need to be flexible, as Catherine has already sent out the parent invites to ensure that she had enough volunteers.

We are working on a rainy-day schedule, just in case!

Enjoy Field Day!
