Hansen Jr/Sr High Principal Update
September 3, 2026
Brief Message From the Principal
What an incredible start to the 2026β27 school year! These first two weeks have set such a positive tone at Hansen Jr./Sr. High School. Our students are learning, engaged, asking questions, building relationships, and already doing some amazing things in and out of the classroom. I continue to be impressed by the energy our teachers and staff bring each day and, most importantly, by how excited they are to support our students as they learn, grow, and find success.
There is also plenty to celebrate! A huge Husky Howl to Mr. Lasso for his work that helped bring the $5,000 T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights award to Hansen Football. We are also celebrating our Husky Football team for bringing the Wagon Wheel back home! These accomplishments are even more meaningful because of the incredible support surrounding our students. Thank you to our families, students, staff, fans, and community members who continue to show up, cheer loudly, and demonstrate what it means to be part of the Husky family.
I also want to make sure our families and community have a voice in the work we are doing at Hansen. I am looking for parents, guardians, and community members who would like to be part of a Principal Advisory Committee, an informal opportunity to meet with me, share perspectives and ideas, ask questions, and provide feedback about our school. Our first meeting will be September 9 at 5:15 PM, right before the home volleyball game. I would love to have a variety of voices at the table as we continue working together to make Hansen the best it can be for our students!
This week's Principal Update is packed with information about what's happening at Hansen! You'll find upcoming September and October dates, athletic schedules and student-section theme days, PBIS updates and celebrations, opportunities to support our Huskies, and other important school happenings. We have a busy fall ahead of us, and I hope you'll join us for as many activities as you can.

PBIS Is Making an Impact!
We are excited to see our PBIS program continuing to grow and positively impact the culture at Hansen Jr/Sr High! Our Tier 2 team meets bi-weekly to identify and support students who may need additional interventions, while our Tier 1 team meets monthly to strengthen schoolwide systems and celebrate positive behavior.
Students are earning Husky Bucks for demonstrating our PBIS values: Respectful, Responsible, and Ready to Learn. They can save their Bucks for rewards, including our first Extended Lunch on September 17! Students who want to participate can redeem 20 Husky Bucks on September 16.
We have also started handing out Husky Howls to recognize students who go above and beyond. These recognitions will be sent home so families can celebrate too! At this month's PBIS assembly, every student who has received a Husky Howl will be entered into our Cash Grab for a chance to win some fun prizes. And the celebrations have already startedβfive students earned Fizz Farm today!
We love seeing our students recognized for the positive choices they make every day. Keep it up, Huskies!
