What's New at Randolph?
Fall Picture Day is Monday, Sept. 28
Order forms were sent home in backpacks this week and can be found here as well. We can't wait to see lots of smiles!
Upcoming Student Experience Survey (Grades 4–12)
GCPS students in grades 4-12 will take the Student Experience Survey between October 26 and November 6. This survey gathers feedback on school climate, belonging, adult support, safety, and peer relationships to help us continuously improve our schools.
Preview the Questions: Review the survey in advance for Grades 4-5 or Grades 6-12.
Opt-Out Details: If you prefer your child not participate, please print, complete, and return the physical GCPS Opt-Out Form to your school’s main office. Thank you for partnering with us to support our students!

Attendance Awareness Month
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Regular school attendance helps students build strong academic habits, stay connected with their friends, and feel confident in their learning. Throughout the month, we’ll be celebrating why attendance matters with fun activities and incentives, while encouraging every Roadrunner to make being at school each day a priority. Thank you for partnering with us to help your child show up, learn, grow, and succeed!
Breakfast Behind the Scenes
Come hear about Randolph's gifted program from our gifted resource teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Eastwood. On Thursday, October 8th, beginning at 8:10, she will discuss how RES differentiates instruction, what being "gifted" can look like, the collaborative model we practice, and all of the criteria and assessments that are used for the referral process. Whether your child is already identified or not, we welcome all parents to attend to learn more. Please RSVP, if you can, by clicking this link!
Randolph Reminders
No Photograph List
Our school, the school division, news media and community partners regularly photograph and tape events, activities and success stories at schools. If you do not want your child's image or name used in publications or other media, you must notify me in writing. You may send an email to me at sburnham@glnd.k12.va.us
*Even if you have indicated this in PowerSchool, please email as well so we can confirm the information stored in PowerSchool is accurate. Thank you!
iPad Insurance Fee Reminder
We know that some parents have experienced issues when trying to pay their student’s iPad insurance fee, and we apologize for the inconvenience.
We have resolved the payment issues and encourage you to pay your student’s iPad insurance fee as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or continue to experience issues with payment, please reach out to Ashley Upton for assistance.
Looking Ahead: Explore Advanced High School Pathways on Sept. 29!
It is never too early to start thinking about your child’s educational journey! While middle and high school may feel like a few years away, the decisions students make in upper elementary help build the foundation for exciting specialized programs in Goochland County Public Schools.
Families of 4th and 5th-grade students are invited to attend Advanced Programs Night at Goochland High School to preview the unique regional and high-school programs available to Goochland students down the road:
When: Tuesday, September 29 | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
Where: Goochland High School
Who: Upper elementary & middle school students and parents
Programs Featured:
Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School (BRVGS): STEM- and technology-focused learning.
Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School (MLWGS): A regional school focusing on government, international studies, and advanced coursework.
Advanced College Academy (ACA): A program enabling students to graduate high school with an Associate Degree from Reynolds Community College.
Come learn what skills, interests, and course paths help prepare students for these opportunities in middle school and beyond.

My Child Is Absent! What do I do?
We are launching a new method to report student absences. Please complete the Attendance Form if your child is sick and will not be attending school. You no longer need to call or email the office with this information. It is still helpful for you to inform your child's teacher via email of their absence.
