Sharpening Writing Skills—With Chopsticks? Sharpening Writing Skills—With Chopsticks?

Our 7th grade students completed a grade-level paragraph full of capitalization, punctuation, and usage errors to sharpen their editing skills. At the end of the week, they put their learning into action through a writing activity. Last week’s focus was a “how-to” paragraph on How to Use Chopsticks. After writing, students had the chance to test their instructions in real life—chopsticks in hand!

Seventh-grade students have been diving into the study of cells, learning to distinguish between plant and animal cells. They were challenged with two mystery slides—one plant cell and one animal cell. Using microscopes, students had to identify each slide and explain their reasoning. A hands-on way to put their learning into practice!
