MVMS JAZZ BAND ATTENDS FIRST COMPETITION AND WINS BIG!

Congrats to Mr. Delgado and the MVMS Jazz Band on receiving a SUPERIOR rating at the Churchill HS Jazz Festival on Saturday, April 20. Congrats, also, to Colton Laria and Elias Salgado on being named Outstanding Soloists of the Day!

End of the Year Instrument Check-In/Out

If you own your instrument or rent from a music store, you take your instrument home and keep it over the summer. Take it for a yearly instrument cleaning/check-up at the music store. If renting, do not return it over the summer months to save money; you will lose your rental credits and have to start over again! Also, your child needs an instrument so they can practice over the summer break!

If you are using a school-owned instrument, it must be checked in the last week of school and then may be checked out for the summer. There is a summer instrument check out form that must be signed and returned before the student will be allowed to take an instrument home for the summer break.

Any questions, please contact a band director.

Summer Band Camps

There are many summer band camps offered across the state of TX for serious, young musicians. I guarantee your child will have a blast making new friends, playing new music, studying with university professors, taking music elective classes, attending social events, etc. Many camps have audition music you have to prepare, and there are application deadlines. Each camp is a different week and different cost, so find one that works for your schedule and pocketbook!

Here are a few to look into:

TXST - June 9-14

TLU - June 23-28

UTSA - June 17-22

St. Mary's - June 10-15

Baylor - June 16-22

SFA - June 16-21

Texas Tech - June 30-July 6
