Student Spotlight
Kavion Green successfully completed the dyslexia program. He is in 10th grade and had him as my student last year as well. He is very shy but shines through with his hard work and intelligence. I admire the deep care and love he has from his grandmother. Her tremendous support has contributed to his successes with K12. His grandmother gives permission and would like to share the special bond they have:
“Kavion saved my life before he was born. I was in the hospital with a broken back & neck, 5 broken ribs, my left lung was collapsed. I prayed and asked God to take my life because I couldn't adapt to the pain. My son walked into the hospital room and whispered into my ear informing me that I was going to be a first-time grandmother. I asked God for forgiveness and Kavion willed me back to life. Kavion is my "BEST" friend. I can truly confide in him as he does me. Kavion and I share a unique unbreakable bond.”

DI Services Moving from 504 to Special Education
Please note that due to changes in recent dyslexia laws from HB 3928, the following, as detailed on page seven of the HB 3928 FAQs document, must occur if the parent wishes for their student to receive Direct Dyslexia Instruction services. In other words, students having accommodations only for dyslexia may remain with 504, but those wanting to continue Direct Dyslexia Instruction services will need to move their student to Special Education.
Dyslexia Student Attendance Policy
As a student identified with dyslexia it is important to receive direct support by attending Direct Dyslexia Instruction classes. Students who receive Direct Dyslexia Instruction must attend class sessions Monday - Thursday (4 days per week).
Dyslexia Instruction will be a required class on your student’s schedule. The students assigned Dyslexia Teacher will contact the student and family with detailed class instructions. Please direct communication about class absences, assignments, or program materials to your assigned Dyslexia Teacher. You can find your teachers' contact information in the Dyslexia Department Directory above.
