Exciting Things Are Happening At Strafford Schools

Strafford Community,

Exciting things are happening on campus! The HPER (Health Physical Education and Recreation) building project is well underway and scheduled to be completed in the fall. The 42,000 square foot building will provide an excellent indoor space for a variety of educational and extracurricular activities. This facility will be utilized throughout the day for many educational activities, including physical education courses, marching band practice, etc. There will also be two classrooms included in the facility which can be available for several classes throughout the day. After school the facility will be utilized as an indoor practice facility.

In addition, construction on a separate facility will begin June 1. The FEMA cafeteria will be located behind the high school and middle school. This facility will be used as a high school cafeteria and will also serve as a storm shelter for students and staff. With this addition, all students and staff on campus will have access to a safe room facility in the event of severe weather. The plan is to allow district patrons within a certain radius from the school access to the facility in the case of an emergency. The facility would only be open to those patrons within this radius, after school hours due to the capacity of the building. We will communicate more details regarding community access as the facility gets closer to completion around the end of next school year.
