Course Placement

The junior high principals have met with each 5th grade teacher already to start conversations about the transition to middle school. The junior high principals are returning to the elementary schools at the end of February to gather feedback on student course scheduling. In addition, this month, elementary interventionists will collaborate with the junior high interventionists pertaining to intervention progress and preliminary placement decisions in regards to student intervention and support.

Final placements for advanced and interventions will be sent home in the end-of-the-year report cards.

Q & A with the Principal

In late April, the junior high principals will visit 5th graders to answer questions regarding classes and the junior high experience and spend some time at lunch and/or recess with them.

Experience Junior High: 5th Grade Visit Day!

As part of the transition to junior high, our 5th graders will have the exciting opportunity to visit their future school! During this visit, students will meet 6th-grade teachers, interact with current student leaders, and take a guided tour of the building to explore key areas like classrooms, the cafeteria, and lockers. They will also have a chance to ask questions, learn about what to expect in junior high, and confirm their course selections for next year. This visit is a great way to help students feel confident and excited about their next big step!
