Dighton Elementary School students makes bracelets to raise money for after-school clubs

Dear Families and Students,

This week, we enjoyed welcoming everyone back after a much-needed spring break! Can you believe there are only seven Mondays left? The time is going to fly by with all of the upcoming events, so be sure to check the important dates so you don’t miss anything.

This week, Grade 3 had the opportunity to learn about American Revolution artifacts, and our kindergarten and grade 1 students learned about the importance of saving money thanks to Cambridge Savings Bank. Grade 4 also had their annual Kite Day, and we were so fortunate to have beautiful weather for it!

Mrs. Grillo’s Grade 4 class had a special visit from Channel 10 News, who featured their “bracelets for a cause” project (see above).

We hope everyone has an amazing weekend, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Katelyn Lima, Principal (klima@drregional.org)

Mr. Kenneth Girouard, Assistant Principal (kgirouard@drregional.org)

Family Culture Survey

Dear Families,

Thank you to everyone who has already taken a few minutes to complete our Family Culture Survey—we truly appreciate your time and input. If you have not yet had a chance to respond, we kindly ask you to consider doing so.

Please access the survey here:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1UOItI28VNag83r-M-zqvxVQJzhGAnmHFojMcg3cV3Lg/edit

Our school community is enriched by the many cultures, beliefs, languages, and traditions that families bring. This brief survey helps us better understand and honor those experiences so we can continue building a welcoming, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students.

Participation is completely voluntary, and all responses will be used only to support school programming, communication, and classroom practices. You may skip any question and share only what you feel comfortable providing.

Thank you for your continued partnership.

Sincerely,
The D-R Arts & Cultural Vitality Committee

Grade K and Grade 1

Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 were treated to a special read-aloud this week from Glenn Cabbage of Cambridge Savings Bank. As part of their annual “Teach Children to Save” program, students enjoyed the story Just a Piggy Bank by Mercer Mayer, which introduced important concepts such as earning, spending, saving, and sharing money in a fun and engaging way.

Each student received their own piggy bank, and a copy of the book was generously donated to the school. We are grateful to Cambridge Savings Bank for providing this meaningful learning experience and helping our youngest learners begin to build strong financial habits early on.

In Grade 3

This week, Joanne Racine visited our Grade 3 classrooms to share artifacts from the American Revolution. She engaged students by explaining the significance of each item and how it connected to life during that time period, helping bring history to life in a meaningful and memorable way.
