Dear Bobcat Families,

Celebrating Brookdale Team IPEF A huge thank you to the 27 members of Brookdale Team IPEF who took to the streets of Downtown Naperville on Sunday, and to everyone who came out to cheer them on! (Check out some of the moments captured below.) A special shout-out to Dan Mantucca, who led our Spirit Squad and stayed until the very last person crossed the finish line—he even has the cowbell battle wounds to prove it!

Thanks to your dedication, Brookdale had the largest team out of 34 schools and was the second-highest fundraising team overall! That is true Bobcat Pride in action. We look forward to putting these funds to work directly for our students. It has always been about more than just running—it’s always for the kids!

Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences This week is our first round of Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences, with our next session scheduled for November 2. Our goal is to connect with 100% of our families! If you missed the online sign-up, please call the main office at 630-428-6800 or reach out directly to your child’s teacher to schedule a time.

Reminder: No School This Friday There is no school for students this Friday as our teachers and staff engage in professional development during our District Building Institute Day. We always appreciate your support of this valuable time!

Gratefully,

Dr. Keeley Schmid

D204 Attendance Update D204 Attendance Update

On August 11th, District 204 staff updated the School Board about several changes to Student Attendance Procedures for the 2026-27 school year. Here are a few helpful hints.

How do I mark my child absent from school?

-ParentVUE app or website (preferred option), or

-Call your school’s attendance line. Found on each school webpage.

What’s New with ParentVUE?

ParentVUE has a new mobile app! If you haven’t upgraded to the new version, please do! Click HERE for instructions.

It’s easier than ever to provide documentation about your child’s absences in the ParentVUE app.

  • Start by snapping a photo of an appointment card or other absence documentation.

  • Click the blue “Report Absence” button (next to your student’s photo).

  • Next, scroll to “Upload Note or Document” (at the bottom of the screen).

  • Choose “Generate PDF” to find the “Gallery” option. Find your photo and attach it!

Did You Know…

If your child is absent from school, but the absence hasn’t been submitted to the school, 204 Connect will now send an automated alert via text, phone call, and email –two hours after the start of the school day.

If you receive this notification, no worries –it’s simply a reminder to enter your child’s absence in ParentVue or call the school attendance line.

We’re also using 204 Connect to help keep you in the loop about your child’s school attendance! 204 Connect will automatically send you a text, call, and email if your child reaches 5 or 9 days of absence.

Assessment Schedule: District and State Assessment Schedule: District and State

D204 and the state of Illinois require district and state assessments to be given to specific groups of students throughout the year. Below are the weeks scheduled for these assessments. A more specific schedule is shared for our building during the assessment windows. If you have any questions regarding these assessments, please reach out to our Testing Coordinator, Mrs. Lindsey Stepper at lindsey_stepper@ipsd.org.

This Year's Safety Drills This Year's Safety Drills

Our school’s highest priority is the safety of our students and staff. In order to maintain a safe environment, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response plans.

We are required by the Illinois School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/1) to conduct a minimum of six safety drills per school year to ensure that our staff and students know their role and are prepared to act during a potential crisis. These safety drills are designed to protect students from danger in and around a school.

We do not conduct surprise drills. We teach students that drills are for practice, and we when practicing, we want to learn and grow from these experiences. We will conduct our safety drills on the following days and times this school year:

Become a school volunteer!

You can make a significant impact by volunteering in our schools. Your unique skills and experiences will help our students succeed. Whether you prefer a set schedule or occasional opportunities, there’s a role for you.

How to help:

There are a wide range of volunteer opportunities in the district with options available at each school, including Boosters, fine arts, LMC (library), PTA, and IPPC (Indian Prairie Parents’ Council). No matter your interest, there's a way for you to make a difference in our schools.

How to get started:

  1. Complete a consent form and application: Visit the district’s volunteer program webpage to fill out two forms: a consent form, then an online application. First, complete the consent form, then upload it within the online application.

  2. Approval: After submitting your application for review, you will receive an email informing you of your approval status or if additional information is needed.

  3. Placement: Once your application is approved, you will work with the building or school organization on any volunteer opportunities that are available.

For more information, please contact:

PTA Reflections is known as the oldest and largest national student recognition program in the arts. Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-created theme. This year's theme is "what my culture means to me."

Students can participate in Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. Students can turn in their physical projects to the office by October 9. Register your child and learn more here! If you'd like to chair the Reflections committee or help, please reach out to the PTA via email as soon as possible at pta.brookdale.bobcat@gmail.com.
