Seniors: Thank you seniors and parents for your attendance and participation in Senior Night this past Monday. I am excited to be a part of the journey that unfolds for you in the months to come. Just a few reminders:

  1. Please make certain your resume is completely up to date.

  2. Begin the Common Application now if you have not already done so.

  3. Clean up your “My Colleges” list in Scoir. Be certain the colleges you are applying to are listed in the “following” or the “applying” column.

  4. Contact teacher recommenders NOW if you haven’t already (only if needed). They will send recommendations to me because they must be sent up through Scoir.

  5. Register for any needed ACTs or SATs per our discussions at the meeting.

  6. Review all materials clipped together on the left-hand side of the packet I gave you and return signed transcript, signed senior schedule, and completed form saying you read and understand the senior guide in the packet. Also return the completed transcript release form. All of these are due: Monday, September 8th.

All High School Families: Remember the following upcoming events.

  1. PSAT to be taken by all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. Hickory Grove Christian School will administer this to our students on Friday, October 24th. This is what you will do for school on this date. Please make plans now for transportation to and from Hickory Grove. Families may want to carpool. I will be in touch shortly with testing fees.

  2. The National Christian College Fair is coming up in a few weeks. It will be on Monday, September 22nd at Charlotte Christian School. I believe it will be from 6:00-8:00, but will let you know more in a week or two. Please plan to attend if you are in high school. Parents welcome!

  3. We have a FAFSA ( Financial Aid ) night coming up on Wednesday, September 10th from 6:30-8:00PM in the Art Studio here at NCA. All high school families should plan to attend, but especially senior families who will be completing the FAFSA starting October 1st. I am open to parents of younger students attending as well. This is NOT a sales presentation. It is facilitated by our regional representative from the College Foundation of North Carolina. It is a FREE resource and is not connected with any specific financial planning organizations.

Ms. Duncan Ms. Duncan

Good evening Nighthawks!

I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Ms. Duncan and I am the school guidance counselor this year. I’m very excited to get to know your students and families. This week I went around introducing myself to the students both at lunch and in the classrooms. I hope that your students will feel comfortable coming to me with any thoughts or concerns. I want to encourage your students and be there to support them throughout the school year. Parents, if you have any questions or concerns about my role or how I may serve your child, please feel free to contact me via email.

Next week I will begin teaching lessons to the K-6 students and our first lesson kickoff will be introducing me and my role while also getting to know your students in a fun way. This is an absolutely fantastic group of kids and I’m excited to spend more time with them!

Lower School Chapel Lower School Chapel

This week in Chapel, our students learned the amazing truth that each of us is chosen by God and placed in our school family on purpose, not by accident. We talked about how God gives each person — students, teachers, staff, and parents — a special role to play. Just like puzzle pieces, when we come together, we create a beautiful picture of God’s love.

We also learned that being chosen isn’t something to take for granted. It’s a blessing! That means we live with gratitude, saying, “Thank You, God, for choosing me and giving me a purpose.” Gratitude helps us see each other as gifts and reminds us that we are a family called to love, encourage, and support one another.

Our Bible focus came from verses like:

  • Jeremiah 29:11 – God has good plans for us.

  • 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT) – We are God’s chosen people, His very own possession.

  • Ephesians 2:10 – We are God’s masterpiece, created for good works.

  • Romans 1:12 – We encourage one another’s faith.

  • John 15:16 – Jesus chose us to bear lasting fruit.

The kids also enjoyed a fun game called Chosen or Not?! to review what we learned, and we closed our time by celebrating with the song Celebration by Forrest Frank. We are off to a great start!

Middle and High School Chapel Middle and High School Chapel

This week, we kicked off a new series titled Theology 101. In this series, we will be explaining that what we believe about God truly matters! Whether your students are new to the faith or looking to deepen their understanding, this will be a great opportunity to strengthen spiritual foundations. This week's topic: Theology Proper: The Doctrine of God. God is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever-present, so what should we do with that knowledge?

**LIVE STREAMING UPDATE**

We apologize to those who were excited to tune in to this week’s service. We hit some unexpected hurdles in trying to stream on both YouTube and Instagram. Please know that Mr. Huntley is working to see the most efficient solution so you can join us. We appreciate your patience and understanding!
