Principal's Letter

Dear North Star Community,

As always, we remain committed to supporting not just the academic growth of our scholars, but their overall well-being. With so much happening in the world, our team continues to thoughtfully support students in processing current events in age-appropriate ways. If your child could benefit from additional support, we encourage you to reach out through our counselor referral link, we are here to help.

We are also taking a closer look at how we connect with our families. Over the next few weeks, we will be piloting a later Friday afternoon distribution time for our weekly newsletter. Please be on the lookout and let us know your feedback!

There is so much to look forward to in the week ahead. We are excited for Science Night next Thursday, as well as both our elementary and middle school dances. It’s always a joy to see our community come together for these special events.

Thank you to all of our families for your partnership during conferences and report card conversations this week. These moments are so valuable, and we truly appreciate the time you take to engage in your child’s learning journey.

A big congratulations to Leslye Smith, our most recent newsletter contest winner! Be sure to check out this week’s newsletter for a new contest—this time designed to engage our scholars as well.

Finally, we are eagerly preparing for our auction this Saturday! The silent auction is already underway, and we are so grateful for the support of our incredible community. We hope to see many of you there as we come together to celebrate and support our school.

With gratitude,

Sincerely,

Erin Kekos

Principal

AND THE LUCKY WINNER IS....

··········································

Congratulations to the winner of last week's newsletter contest, Leslye Smith, parent of Lucy in 7th grade, and Wyatt in 4th. Leslye was among a handful of parents who answered this question:

What were scholar's top 2 suggestions for our 2022 time capsule?

The Correct Answer:

1. Covid paraphernalia (Mask/Sanitizer/Covid Test)

2. Rubik's Cube (they made a fast comeback in 2022!)

Other student suggestions included fidget spinners, pop-its, Squishmallow, handwriting samples, and spiritwear! I wonder what scholars would suggest if we sealed a time capsule today?

HEY THERE!

··········································

Thank you for being here! For this week’s newsletter contest, we’re celebrating creativity with a nod to the upcoming Science Night!

  1. Ask your scholar to create a piece of art (drawing, painting, sculpture, or digital art) inspired by their favorite science topic.
  2. Have your child include a one-sentence caption to tell us about it.
  3. Email a photo of the artwork by 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 24.

All participants will be included in a random drawing for a Kung Fu Tea (aka, boba!!) gift card and featured in our online gallery. A few pieces will also be featured in our newsletter next week, so check back to see the creativity!
