FUTURE 8th Grader Course Request Sheet (current 7th graders) FUTURE 8th Grader Course Request Sheet (current 7th graders)

It is already time to select courses for next school year! Counselors presented registration information to 7th graders on Friday, 1/31. Current 7th graders must make their 8th grade course selections on the attached form and return it to their social studies teacher on Monday, February 3rd. Please sign the bottom of your student’s course selection form. Click HERE for elective course descriptions and videos.

A few key points from the presentation:

-A minimum of 2 semesters of some form of physical education is required for all middle school students. Students may fulfill this requirement in either 7th or 8th grade.

-A minimum of 2 semesters of some form of fine arts are required for students in grades 6-8.

-8th graders are required to take Career Pathways (if not in the AVID program).

-If students select a high school credit elective, their grade in this course will go on their official high school transcript and affect their GPA.

-Encourage your student to speak with their current teachers if they are unsure if they should take on-level or advanced core classes.

-Students may NOT repeat semester elective courses they have already taken. They are allowed repeat PE, Athletics, Orchestra, Band, Choir, AVID, Student Council, & Yearbook.

*If your student is being re-zoned to another middle school, please have them fill out the form and return it to their teacher here. This course selection form is the same district-wide, so their course selections will be transferred to the appropriate campus.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to our counselors with any questions you have!

TUTORING INCENTIVES TUTORING INCENTIVES

zoom_out_map
LAST WEEK all students recieved a yellow tutoring pass. The goal is to reward students who are spending extra time with teachers for extra help, tutoring other students, or STAAR tutoring. The students will use this yellow pass to proeceed to the front of the EVOLV lines in the morning to get to tutoring faster. Once they have attended tutoring 10 times before or after school they will redeem it for $50 wildcat cash to spend at the PBIS store at the end of the 6 weeks. It can be any combination of teachers as long as they remember to get the teacher to sign it. If you need help encouraging your student to come in for extra help remind them to earn the cash💵💰 It is also a way for you to verify if they are actually coming as well.

2023-2024 TAPR Report for Wester MS & Mansfield ISD 2023-2024 TAPR Report for Wester MS & Mansfield ISD

Dear Wester Families,

TEA released the 2023-24 Texas Academic Performance Reports (TAPR) data reports on December 12, 2024. These data reports pull together a wide range of information on students' performance in each school and district in Texas every year. These reports show student performance disaggregated by student groups, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status. The reports also provide extensive information on school and district staff, programs, and student demographics.

TEA mandates that we share these data with stakeholders within 90 days of receiving them. The 90-day period excludes the holidays and the winter breaks.

You can see the 23-24 TAPR Reports for Wester MS and Mansfield ISD on TEA's TAPR website.

SCHOOL WIDE FIELD TRIP - MAY 8th SCHOOL WIDE FIELD TRIP - MAY 8th

We are excited to announce that we will be going on a schoolwide field trip on May 8th, 2025 to Alley Cats in Burleson to celebrate all the hard work and dedication our Wester students have put into this year. This will be taking place during the school day. We will depart the campus at 9:00 a.m. and return at 2:30 p.m.

The cost for the field trip will be $26 per person and will cover unlimited laser tag, bowling, mini-golf, video games, go-carts, and a $20 FUN card towards prize games. The price will also cover two slices of pizza and a drink. We will be transported in MISD busses to and from the event. Due to the need to pay the venue in advance, NO REFUNDS will be issued.

To encourage our students to continue embodying the "Wester Way" through positive behavior and a strong commitment to their school community, we are using this field trip as a special incentive. Starting in the second semester, any student who receives an in-school suspension, out-of-school suspension, or a placement in the DAEP, will be unable to participate in the trip. These students will remain at school on the day of the event, where an alternative learning plan will be provided for them. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping students make responsible choices.

We are currently finalizing the details of the trip and will share more information as it becomes available. We wanted to bring this to your attention in advance so that you have time to make any necessary plans. We will begin collecting payment and provide additional details in February. Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to an exciting trip!

Look for additional details coming soon.
