News from the Nest!
November 6, 2026
Dear Palmer River Elementary School Community,
It was another wonderful week at Palmer River Elementary School! We started the week with our usual routines and wrapped things up with one of our favorite fourth-grade traditions—Idiom Day! Our fourth graders showed off their creativity by bringing popular idioms to life through clever costumes and imaginative presentations. They certainly kept their classmates guessing! What a fun and memorable way to reinforce figurative language while making learning come alive!
We also took time to celebrate our October Monthly Mindset of Responsibility! Students who demonstrated this important character trait were recognized with a special award and the opportunity to select a book from our book vending machine. We are so proud of the many ways our students show responsibility each day, both in and out of the classroom!
It was a great week filled with creativity, learning, and celebrations of student success! We hope all of our PRES families enjoy a wonderful and relaxing weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Kefor, Principal and Mrs. Cassey Monte, Assistant Principal

🩺Medical Requirements for 3rd and 4th Grade Students
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Palmer River Elementary School District mandate that each student have a current physical examination on file with the school nurse before entering 4th grade.
For third-grade students, physicals submitted during this school year will meet the requirements.
For fourth-grade students, please submit them as soon as possible.
❤️‍🩹Health Screenings
Annual health screenings have been completed across all grade levels. Make-up screenings and reevaluations were completed on Monday for students who were absent or required secondary screening. If your child requires additional follow-up, a notification letter will be sent home within the next few weeks.Thank you for your cooperation. Please feel free to contact the school office with any questions.
Chapstick
As these colder months approach, please send your child to school with Chapstick to keep in their backpacks.
Sick Day Guidelines
Should I keep my child home or send him/her to school?
Has a fever of 100.4 degrees or higher
Has been vomiting or has diarrhea
Has symptoms that keep your child from participating in school, such as:
Very tired or lack of appetite
Cough that he or she cannot control, sneezing often
Headache with body aches
Sore throat - A little sore throat is okay for school, but a bad sore throat could be strep throat, even if there is no fever. Other signs of strep throat in children include headache, stomach upset, vomiting or rash. Call your doctor if your child has these symptoms.
24 Hour Rule
FEVER: Keep your child home until his/her fever has been gone WITHOUT medicine for 24 hours. Returning to school too soon may slow recovery and make others sick.
VOMITING OR DIARRHEA: Keep your child home for 24 hours after the last time he/she vomited or had diarrhea.
ANTIBIOTICS: Keep your child home until 24 hours after the FIRST dose of antibiotics
Head Cold Notice: Please note that head colds can be contagious for at least 48 hours if they are sneezing or coughing without properly covering their mouth or washing their hands. Many children come to school with head colds and unintentionally pass the sickness to classmates. Please help protect our school community by keeping your child home while they are most sick.
