📆 This Week at a Glance 📆 This Week at a Glance

We’re heading into another full week at BAS, and September is definitely keeping our Bobcats busy!

Fall Picture Day is Monday, September 14, so don’t forget to send students in their school uniform and ready for those yearbook smiles! 📸

Our Bobcat soccer and volleyball seasons are also in full swing, and we love seeing our students working hard, supporting their teammates, and representing BAS on the field and court. ⚽🏐 Be sure to check this week’s schedule and come cheer them on when you can!

We also have Field Day and Donuts with Dudes coming up on September 25, along with plenty of learning and activities happening around campus.

September is moving quickly! Take a few minutes to look through this week’s Bulletin and stay up to date on everything happening around BAS.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest

if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9

By this point in the school year, the newness is beginning to wear off and the real work has begun! This week, let’s encourage our students to keep going, keep trying, and keep doing what is right—even when it isn’t easy. The effort we put in today helps us grow into who God is calling us to become. 💙💛

Reminders 📌 Reminders 📌

  • Hot Lunch Continues This Week! Our regular Hot Lunch program is officially underway! A HUGE thank you to the parent volunteers who make this program possible. Please remember that Hot Lunch depends on our volunteers. If we do not have enough volunteers scheduled for a particular day, Hot Lunch will be canceled for that day and students will need to bring a lunch from home. If you’re able to help, please consider signing up—we appreciate you!
  • Snack Sale: Snacks are available for purchase on Fridays, including chips, Ring Pops, candy bars, and more. Prices range from $0.50–$2.00. Students may bring cash or charge snacks to their school account. If your student has permission to charge, please make sure their teacher knows.
  • Jewelry: Just a reminder that jewelry is not permitted at school per BAS policy. Thank you for helping your student follow our school dress code each day.

💙 Parent Partnership: When “I Don’t Know” Really Means “I’m Stuck”

Sometimes when we ask our children, “What did you learn today?” or “Why haven’t you started your homework?” the answer is simply, “I don’t know.” It can sound like avoidance, but sometimes kids truly don’t know how to explain what they’re thinking or where they’re stuck.

Instead of asking the same question again, try making it smaller and more specific:

  • 💬 “Show me the part that feels hard.”
  • 🤔 “What’s the first thing you do know?”
  • 📝 “What did your teacher ask you to do?”
  • 🌱 “What’s one small thing you could do next?”

Breaking a problem into smaller pieces helps children learn how to move forward when they feel overwhelmed. The goal isn’t for parents to solve the problem—it’s to help students develop the tools to get themselves unstuck.

That’s a skill they’ll use far beyond the classroom.
