October Prize Winners October Prize Winners

Congratulations to our Paw Prize winners for showing Responsibility for the month of October. Students learned what responsibility means and what it looks like in action:

Responsibility means - Do the things you are supposed to do, and accept the results of your actions.

What Responsibility looks like in action:

Keep your space clean - desk, lockers, floor space

Be prepared to learn - have your materials and supplies ready

Bring back forms, Friday folders, library books

Take care of your things - pack your backpack, folder, throw away trash, take care of lunch tray, recess equipment

Follow the rules in and out of the classroom

Elementary Run Club

Our Elementary Run Club had a great season. This year we had 25- 4th and 5th grade students participate. During our six week season we worked on our pace, our breathing and getting faster each time out. The students have enjoyed meeting new friends and staying active. We enjoyed the beautiful weather that this Fall has brought. We ended our season on a very rainy Thursday to complete our 2 mile fun run. The students did a great job! Thank you to all who came and helped cheer on the runners. We also want to thank the MS/HS Cross Country Team for coming and running with us a couple times. We always look forward to hanging with the “big” kids.

We want to thank our volunteers for their time investing in our students after school. We also want to thank our school community for continuing to support our club. We are looking forward to another season next year. Good luck to our 5th graders who will be moving up to the middle school next year. You will be missed, but you have a great opportunity to run on the cross country team. Run, HUSKIES, Run!

Thanks to a donation from the Dow WIN (Women's Inclusion Network), 6th and 7th grade students could dissect owl pellets today. They have been studying interactions in ecosystems and food webs and were able to study what the potential food web might look like for the owl that produced their pellet. It was a great experience and we are thankful for the donation!

Bond Updates Bond Updates

As we near the completion of the various projects outlined in the bond, our primary focus is currently on addressing punch list items and ensuring that any necessary adjustments are made to meet our community's standards and expectations. The dedication to quality and excellence in every detail is of utmost importance to us.

We are preparing to begin the installation of a multipurpose room, batting cage and turf, enhancing our facilities and providing additional opportunities for our students to excel in various sports and activities.

Furthermore, I am pleased to inform you that the drawings for the concession stand and restroom updates at the football field are in the final stages of completion. This work is slated to take place during the winter months. These enhancements aim to improve the overall experience for our students, families, and community members who attend events at our football field and track. We look forward to creating a more inviting and functional space for everyone to enjoy.

As we embark on these developments, I want to express my gratitude to our community for its ongoing support and patience throughout this process. Your commitment to the success of Breckenridge Community Schools is truly appreciated, and we are dedicated to delivering facilities that reflect the pride and excellence of our community.

Wishing you all our Huskies a joyful Christmas season filled with warmth, laughter, and moments of togetherness.

-Wade Slavik, Superintendent

Keep the Huskies Healthy!

Unfortunately as we head into colder months, the number of illnesses rise. If your student is ill, please keep them home. Promptly call the school with any symptoms your child is experiencing (fever, vomiting, sore throat, body ache, cough) and keep them home until they're symptom free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducers. If you take your student to the doctor for their symptoms, please have your student turn in the doctor's note to the office when they return to school. This will ensure the absence does not negatively affect them for truancy purposes.
