CAMPUS SAFETY UPDATE
Early last week members of our executive leadership team met with Dr. Jennifer Griffin, Temple’s new Vice President of Campus Safety. We discussed the resources available to Temple students, faculty and staff to support efforts to maintain a safe and vibrant environment in and around campus. I encourage you to visit https://safety.temple.edu/ and check out information on services like the RAVE Guardian app, as well as a detailed main campus patrol area map.
ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER AWARD
The awards keep rolling in for legendary former Temple Fencing Coach Dr. Nikki Franke. It was announced last week that Nikki would receive the WeCOACH Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is presented to women in sports who succeed at the highest levels in their respective careers, while also displaying an unwavering commitment, pioneering spirit, and trailblazing leadership to empower and pave the way for girls and women in all sports and levels to breakthrough for many generations to come.

FALL SPORTS ROUNDUP
Field Hockey continues to lead the way for Temple Fall sports as the Owls improved to 11-4 overall and 3-2 in Big East Conference play this past weekend.
Men’s Soccer picked up its first American Athletic Conference win with a 1-0 victory at Florida Atlantic this past Saturday.
Football had a disappointing outing at UCF in its last game and will look to bounce back on ESPN2 Friday at home against Tulsa.
Men’s Crew and Women’s Rowing are coming off tremendous performance at the Navy Day Regatta, their fall season opening competition.
Golf is winding down its fall season and junior Graham Chase had his best week as an Owl, posting consecutive Top 10 finishes at the Phoenix Invitational and the Wolfpack Intercollegiate.
Men’s Cross Country placed sixth at the Penn State National Open while the women’s team, which was competing without two of its top five runners, finished 16th.
Volleyball picked up a nice split on the road this past weekend, falling to UCF, 3-0, before bouncing back with a nice 3-2 win over USF.
Women’s soccer will look to post its first AAC win of the season on Senior Day this Sunday against East Carolina.
TEAMING WITH TEAMWORKS
I am thrilled to announce our new partnership with Teamworks where we will utilize their enterprise offering of platforms, Teamworks Elite. Temple joins the cohort of athletic departments around the nation that are advancing technological support for their staff and student-athletes in communications, operations, academics, NIL, and more through Teamworks Elite.
NAME, IMAGE AND LIKENESS SESSION
On the horizon is our first Name, Image, and Likeness educational session for local businesses prior to the Men’s Basketball home basketball game versus Villanova on November 11th. Our team is in the process of building out a fantastic agenda that will feature industry leaders, well-versed in the brand value of student-athletes. More information is to come, but please reach out to Justin Miller, miller@temple.edu if you would like to learn more.
OWLS IN THE NFL
For this week’s Owls in the NFL section, I wanted to share this nice article about six amazing Temple Football alums who are not only succeeding in the NFL but are giving back to the community. It is truly inspiring to see the commitment our alums have to the community.
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
This past week we spotlighted Edward Darrah, who has been on our staff since November 2018 as a Mental Health & Performance Counselor. Along with Dr. Stephany Coakley, Ed has been instrumental in making Temple one of the top athletic departments in the nation in supporting student-athletes mental well-being.

BEYER FUND SOCIAL SUCCESS
What a great way to open the crew and rowing seasons with the return of the Beyer Fund Social on Saturday, October 15. Simply a tremendous night to support our crew program at the event named in honor of former men’s crew alum Jamie Beyer (’96) who lost his battle with cancer in 2018. Jamie’s brother Jerry, a Georgetown alum, organized an effort by his Hoya teammates to fund a new boat named after his brother which was dedicated at the event.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW DEAN!!
