Creekwood ECC ChatJanuary, 2025

Happy New Year and welcome to 2025!

New beginnings and possibilities always come with the start of a new year. For young children, the start of a new year means more opportunities for learning and growth. We know you will see a great deal of change in your child in 2025, and we are looking forward to helping them learn even more in this spring semester.

Sometimes readjustment back to school after a long break is difficult for pre-k students. There are a few things families can do to help with this. Be sure to get your child back on a "school schedule" (bedtime and waking routines on school-day times, having dinner and breakfast close to the same times they do on a school day, taking a brain break/rest time, etc.) a few days before January 7. This will help your child return to the school routine a little easier.

BAPS Inclement Weather Protocol

Broken Arrow Public Schools is committed to the safety and wellbeing of its students and staff. In the event of inclement weather, there are five snow days built into the district calendar, meaning if the district does not use any snow days, the last day of school will be five days sooner. In certain circumstances or emergencies, distance learning may still be used.

Please review the information on the on how closure decisions are made and how families/staff can get the most current information possible here.

Extra Clothes

As your child returns to school following the break, please be sure they have extra clothes that fit and are appropriate for the winter weather. Each item of clothing item should be labeled with the child's name.

*Please also label all coats, jackets, hoodies, hats, mittens/gloves, scarves, earmuffs, etc.*

Morning Drop-Off Procedure Reminders

🚗Car line drop-off times are 8:15-8:45. If you arrive after 8:45, you must park and walk your child into the office and sign them in. Staff must enter the building to begin the instructional day at 8:45.

🚗Parents are to stay in the car. Staff will assist the child in exiting the vehicle. If your child requires extra help, please park and walk them up to the appropriate entry area where staff will guide them in to the building.

🚗Students are to exit the vehicle on the curb side only.

🚗Staff are present to assist children when exiting the vehicle. Please pull as far forward as possible and allow a staff member to open the door and guide your child. Students should not exit the vehicle without a staff member present to assist.

Other Transportation Reminders

🔴 Anyone dropping off or picking up a student before 8:15 and after 8:45am must park in the parking lot to walk in. This includes B&A drop-offs. The fire lane along the front drive is a no parking zone.

🔴 Handicapped spaces require vehicles to have the proper documentation displayed.

🔴 The parking lot is a no-phone zone. We have many small children in the parking lot, requiring everyone's attention to keep everyone safe.

Building security

The safety of our students is the top priority at CWECC. As a reminder, any adult wishing to enter our building must ALWAYS have the parent/family badge displayed in order to enter. When you are checking your child out at any time other than our 2:20-2:50 pick-up window, you must also present your driver's license in the office. So you will need both the family ID badge AND your driver's license. We will not release a student to anyone without proper identification.

During security drills and actual security situations, we must lock all doors and cannot allow anyone to enter or exit the building until we receive the all-clear.

During actual security events, we will keep you as informed as possible. Information will be sent out as we receive it. We encourage you to download the BAPS app, as important information is sent from the school and district via that channel as well as SMS/Text messages.

If you are not receiving text messages from our school, it could be for one of several reasons: you have opted out of receiving the messages, delivery failed from your phone service provider, there was an invalid route to your phone number, or the number in our system is incorrect or unknown. If you aren't receiving text messages, please check to be sure you have not opted out from receiving them, and that your number is correct in our system. You can check with our office to be sure we have the correct information on file for you.

Illness Protocol

If your child is not feeling well it is best to keep them home until they are ready to participate in all the pre-k learning activities. We ask that you monitor your child daily for stuffy/runny nose, fever, headache/tummy aches, ear and throat pain, or other symptoms of illness.

If your child is sick, they must be fever-free, and no diarrhea or vomiting for at least 24 hours without the use of medications before they can return to school.

If you take your child to the doctor, be sure to get a school note from the doctor's office and bring it to the school office so we can note it in our system.

We appreciate your help in keeping the germs from spreading!

If your child will be staying home for any reason (illness or other), please contact the school as early as possible to let us know.
