Mill Valley Weekly
March 6, 2025
Hello Mill Valley Families,
Mill Valley just wrapped up our whole school focus on our shared One Book, One School experience, reading the book Because of the Rabbit by Cynthia Lord. We hope you enjoyed the connection between home and school as we all read the same book which allowed us to have conversations and share ideas related to themes in the book. Because of the Rabbit explores themes of friendship, acceptance, growing up, and being yourself. We hope you enjoyed reading or listening to staff members read the book over the month of February.
As we kick off March, we continued to celebrate reading as we enjoyed Read Across America Week. Read Across America Week is intended to motivate and help kids become aware of and celebrate good reading habits. In addition to dress up days, we also had lots of guest readers visiting classrooms sharing their passion for reading. Guest readers included Mr. Irvine, Mr. Michlig, Mrs. Sundstrom, Mr. Johnson, Officer Fox, Mrs. Olson, Mr. Bavlnka, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Schrot, and Mr. Krupar.
On another note, be sure to check your child's school items tonight. Each student will have individual information regarding Parent Teacher Conferences.
Sincerely,
Allyce & Julie

PBIS February Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students:
1st grade had the least number of major/minors in February
Referrals most often happen in the classroom and on the playground
We need to show integrity and meet expectations all of the time, even when adults aren’t looking or right by us
Referrals happen least often in specials and the bathroom
Most kids at Mill Valley are doing a great job of trying their best and aren’t receiving behavior referrals
In addition, our students have earned 1,449 Paw Prints in the month of February! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.
