March Newsletter
Message from Main Street School
Dear Main Street Families,
As we move into March, I continue to be grateful for the dedication, resilience, and heart our students, staff, and families bring to Main Street School each day. This time of year always brings meaningful growth — academically, socially, and emotionally — and it’s exciting to see the progress our students are making as routines and relationships remain strong.
Over the next several weeks, we will focus on maintaining consistent learning experiences while also preparing for upcoming spring activities and state assessments. Our goal is to keep students supported, confident, and engaged as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust. Working together makes all the difference for our students and our school community. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or if we can support your family in any way.
With appreciation,
Gina Trujillo
Principal

Message from the Health Office
How sick is too sick?
The best way to prevent the spread of infection is by staying home when sick. There are four main reasons for children and adults to stay home:
- The child or staff member could infect others with a contagious illness, either because of symptoms, a diagnosis, or recent exposure to a contagious illness.
- The child or staff member does not feel well enough to take part in usual activities. For example, a child is overly tired, fussy, or will not stop crying.
- A child needs more care than teachers and staff can give while still caring for the other children.
- The child or staff member has symptoms or an illness on this list (link below), and staying home is required.
Common symptoms during illness such as diarrhea, vomiting, and fever should be resolved for 24hrs (without medications) before a student or staff member returns to school.
Students may return to school as long as their symptom(s) have been resolved for 24 hours unless the symptoms are caused by an illness that requires them to stay home longer and they are unable to participate in school.

Tips to Stay Healthy
Here are a few reminders to help your student stay healthy:
- Wash hands as often as possible
- Get plenty of rest
- Try to get some outside time which is great for physical and mental health
- Eat as many fruits and vegetables as possible
State Assessments | April 6-24
As we look ahead into April, our students will participate in our annual state testing season. State assessments (CMAS) will take place April 6–24, with additional college-readiness testing for our secondary students. 9th and 10th graders will complete the PSAT, and 11th graders will take the SAT, during the April 13–24 window. These assessments, administered through the Colorado Department of Education and the College Board, help us measure student growth, guide instruction, and prepare students for future academic opportunities.
You can support your child by ensuring they get plenty of rest, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time during testing days. A calm, confident mindset goes a long way in helping students show what they know.
If you have any questions about testing schedules or what to expect, please reach out to your child’s teacher. We’re happy to help!
Teacher of the Year
We are proud to celebrate an outstanding member of our team at Main Street School!
Please join us in congratulating Jessika Losee, our Teacher of the Year. Jessika consistently goes above and beyond to support her students academically, socially, and emotionally. She creates a classroom environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to grow, and she brings patience, creativity, and compassion to everything she does.
In addition to her impact with students, Jessika is a trusted teammate and a positive, steady presence for our entire staff. Her dedication and heart for kids truly represent the very best of Main Street.
We are so grateful for the difference she makes every day. Congratulations, Jessika!
