Ashland Preschool Update
September 3rd, 2026
A Great Start to the School Year!
We have had a wonderful first three days of school! Our students are already beginning to learn classroom routines and become familiar with their new teachers, friends, and school environment. It has been exciting to see everyone settling in and getting comfortable!
This week, students have enjoyed getting outside to play on the playground during recess, and exploring the equipment in the gym during indoor recess. In classrooms, students are learning how to explore and play in the different centers within their classrooms, and quickly discovering which one is their favorite. Our full-day students have also had the exciting experience of going through the lunch line and sitting with their friends in the cafeteria for lunch!
We are especially proud that many classrooms have already filled their classroom Bee Hives by earning bees for Being Safe and Being Kind. What an amazing way to start the year!
Tuesday September 8th, is Lissencephaly Awareness Day. Lissencephaly is a rare neurological condition that affects the development of the brain. This day provides and opportunity to raise awareness, support individuals and families affected by lissencephaly, and celebrate the unique strengths of every child. We invite all Pittaway students and staff to wear Purple and Blue on Tuesday to help raise awareness and show support.
Next week, in collaboration with the Ashland Fire and Police Departments, our students will practice evacuating the school safely and efficiently. Teachers will prepare students for the drill and explain what they should expect. This is one of the many safety drills we practice throughout the school year to help our students and staff know what to do in an emergency.
As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, Friday, September 4th, or Monday, September 7th, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday!
Have a wonderful long weekend,
Amanda
