January Focus
As part of our continued focus on identity, belonging, and PAWS, students are reflecting on how their words, actions, and choices help create a positive school community. Through classroom conversations and shared experiences, students are learning that each of us plays an important role in making Dewey a safe, respectful, and welcoming place.
We invite families to continue these conversations at home using the weekly family prompt below. These discussions help students make meaningful connections between school, home, and their role in the larger community.
Home Prompt: How do your words and actions help others feel safe, respected, or included at school?
I can't wait to hear what our kids have to say!
Warm regards,
Sabrina Parsley, principal

We Want to Hear From You!
The San Juan Unified School District has renamed its annual district climate survey to the School Experience Survey. This new name better reflects what the survey is about: your experience at your school.
San Juan Unified would like to invite parents, students and staff to take the school experience survey. Your feedback is vital and informs school leaders of the changes needed in their communities. The deadline for the survey is Feb. 6.
Surveys are available online in English, Spanish, Persian (Farsi/Dari), Russian, Pashto, Ukrainian and Arabic at:
Parent Survey - www.sanjuan.edu/parentsurvey
Student Survey - www.sanjuan.edu/studentsurvey
We greatly value your feedback and thank you in advance for your participation. Paper copies were sent home last week if you'd prefer to fill it out paper/pencil.

RaiseRight Update: Halfway Through the Year!
We're halfway through the school year, and it's exciting to see how teachers have been putting their RaiseRight funds to work in the classroom! So far this school year, teachers have used their accounts to purchase:
- Classroom books and library additions
- Essential classroom supplies
- Materials for specific projects and activities
- PE equipment and supplies
- Prize box goodies
- Math learning aides
- Vocabulary learning aides
Best of all, these are resources that didn't have to come out of teachers' personal pockets!
What is RaiseRight?
RaiseRight turns your everyday shopping into earnings for your child's classroom. When you purchase gift cards through RaiseRight, a percentage comes back as earnings—80% goes directly to your child's teacher's classroom account, and 20% goes into your family account to use toward school expenses like field trips. It's never too late to join!
