Seal of Arts Excellence (Seniors)

Fayette County Public Schools recognizes graduating seniors who demonstrate an advanced level of specialization in a visual and performing arts discipline. Students earning the Seal of Arts Excellence receive:

  • A medal to wear at their graduation ceremony (in compliance with the regalia guidelines)
  • An emblem on their high school diploma; and
  • A notation on their transcript.

The Seal of Arts Excellence -- first offered to the Class of 2024 -- allows seniors to make concrete connections between their artistic endeavors and the FCPS focus on high levels of achievement, cultural competence, and preparation for the future. The portfolio should represent a student’s best work throughout their high school experience and showcase how the arts truly embody an "Education Beyond Expectation."

Intent to Apply Due November 1st

Medical Academy "Kick Off" Assembly

Medical Academy hosted a "kick off" assembly this week! They played medical specific games in a relay format. Students played pharmacist and worked to "fill prescriptions." They also played a timed stretcher game in which students had to strap "Bob" to the stretcher correctly and move him safely across the stage as fast as they could. Students had fun and built momentum for a great year ahead!

Freshman Academy students all participated in our annual Commitment to Graduation ceremony, in which 9th grade students learn about the importance of community and hard work, while dedicating themselves to graduating with honors in 4 years! This year, we had special guests, including our academy ambassadors, JROTC students with the Presentation of Colors, our BSHS Drum Core, and guest speaker Judge Melissa Moore Murphy. AP Government and Politics Students on American Political Ideology and Beliefs

AP Government and Politics Students started a Unit on American Political Ideology and Beliefs. They read about different political typologies and deciding as a group what percentage of the US Voting Population each represents (Doing Math in Social Studies Class!). They each took a political typology quiz and reflected on their results, wrapping it all up by working individually placing different Policy Issues in order of importance. It was a really cool way to introduce the concepts of the unit, plus they did ALL the work!
