THE BEAR ESSENTIALS
Week of October 27, 2025
Hello, Bear Families
It is hard to believe that next week marks the end of October. Time is flying by, and our students continue to do great things each day.
We are excited to welcome Mrs. Katie Pruden to the Bear Family as our new Reset Room Supervisor. Mrs. Pruden brings a wealth of experience working with students through restorative practices, peer mediation, and behavior intervention. She has developed effective strategies to help students regulate, reflect, and return to class ready to learn. Mrs. Pruden is skilled in creating calm, supportive environments where students feel heard and empowered to take ownership of their actions.
As a Wyandotte graduate, Mrs. Pruden is excited to return to her home school and continue building positive relationships with our students and staff. Her passion for helping students grow socially and emotionally makes her an incredible addition to our team.
Go Bears!

ALICE Drill
Tuesday, October 28
Dear Parents and Families,
As part of our continued commitment to maintaining a safe and prepared school environment, our students will participate in an ALICE drill during third hour on Tuesday, October 28.
ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) training provides staff and students with proactive strategies for responding to a potential threat or active intruder situation. During this drill, students will be presented with a few different scenarios and will discuss the appropriate responses to each. This exercise is designed to promote understanding, calm decision-making, and safety awareness—not to create fear or anxiety.
Our teachers and staff will guide the discussions in a supportive and age-appropriate manner. As always, our goal is to empower students with knowledge and confidence in the event of an emergency while maintaining a positive learning environment.
If you have any questions or concerns about the drill, please don’t hesitate to contact our office.
Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our school community safe.
Cap/Gown & Class Ring Meetings
We are excited to announce that you can now purchase your class ring from Jostens. The initial meeting will be held on October 30 for all sophomores where you can learn more about the available options. If you miss the meeting, or are in grades 11-12, don’t worry! You can pck up an informatiohn packet in the Principal's Office. Jostens will return on November 6 during all lunches to take orders in person. Additionally, you have the convenience of ordering online at any time. Make sure to mark your calendars and get ready to commemorate your achievements with a beautiful class ring!

Halloween Expectations
With Halloween approaching, we know many of our students enjoy dressing up to celebrate the day. We ask that everyone ensure their attire meets our school’s expectations for being respectful, responsible, and safe.
Please keep the following guidelines in mind:
Students are required to follow the school dress code.
Students must be easily identifiable — no masks, full-face paint, or makeup that hides their identity.
Clothing should not be bulky or restrictive, as it can interfere with learning or create safety issues in hallways and classrooms.
Avoid clothing or props that could be considered inappropriate, unsafe, or disruptive to the school environment
No blow-up costumes, blood, gore, or weapons of any kind.
We look forward to a fun and positive day that allows everyone to enjoy the spirit of Halloween while keeping our focus on learning. Thank you for your cooperation and support.
Student Pick-up
Our neighboring businesses have reached out for assistance regarding parking concerns. Some have noticed that parents are using their parking lots for student pick-up, which has created issues for them.
Let’s be good neighbors and help maintain a positive relationship with the businesses in our community! We kindly ask that you pick up your child on 5th Street or in the school’s designated parking areas at the front and rear of the campus. Please be aware that violators may be ticketed by the police department, so it's important to follow these guidelines.
