Fairfield Panther Paw
August 22, 2025
From Mrs Tennenbaum
Our first full week with all of students has gone well. We appreciate your patience as we work out any kinks with transportation, dismissal, and standard operating procedures. Please continue to remind your students to ROAR each and every day - Be Respectful, Take Ownership, Have a Positive Attitude and Be Remarkable. Our character trait for the Months of August and September is RESPECT. The true meaning of respect is to hold someone or something in high regard, valuing their inherent worth, dignity, and feelings, even if you don't agree with them. It involves treating others with honor, care, and consideration, recognizing their right to their own choices and perspectives. True respect is a two-way street, built on mutual trust and a desire to treat others as you'd like to be treated. Have a great weekend!
We don't do Average, we do Awesome!

Diagnostic screeners
Over the next two weeks, students will be taking the I Ready diagnostic and the Acadience Assessment. These are two very important assessments that allow us to see what the students know and where any skill gaps may be so that we can provide appropriate instruction and/or enrichment and intervention. Please encourage your student to try their very best and to work hard so that we can see what they know.
PTO updates
Hello Fairfield Families,
We hope you had a wonderful summer! We’re so excited to kick off a brand-new school year full of learning, laughter, and community. The PTO is here to help make this year the best yet — and we can’t do it without you!
First PTO Meeting
When: Wednesday, August 27th
Time: 6:30 pm
Where: Fairfield Elementary Media Center
At this meeting, we’ll share our plans for the year, talk about upcoming events, and discuss how you can get involved. Whether you can volunteer for an event, help behind the scenes, or simply join the conversation, we’d love to have you there.
Your ideas, time, and enthusiasm are what make our school community so special. Let’s start the year off strong — please join us!
New this year: The PTO will be hosting a Book Club! Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 10th, and we’ll be reading The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. We hope you’ll join us for some fun discussion and community time. More details to come.
To help make school pickup smoother, safer, and more convenient, we are offering Carpool Pickup Tags this year. These tags will make it easier for staff to identify your car and ensure a faster dismissal process.
PTO Sponsored School Store Kick off Monday
Get ready — our PTO-sponsored School Store Fundraiser kicks off Monday, August 25, 2025!

With the QR code, you’ll find all the details about a safe, easy, and impactful way your family can support our school. Every dollar raised helps us provide the essential tools our students and your child's teachers need to succeed.
Plus, your child can earn exciting prizes just for participating!
Dental News from the School Nurse
The Smiles Program Mobile Dentist is coming to Fairfield Elementary on Wed.,
Sept. 17 & Friday, Sept. 19, 2025!
Dental care remains the greatest unmet health need among U.S. children. Over
50% of children have a cavity, which can cause pain leading to missed school.
Enrollment forms are being sent home with your child on August 22, 2025. To
take advantage of this convenient opportunity and have your child see the dentist
at school, please completely fill out and sign the enrollment form and return it to
the school with your child. If you do not receive a form, please contact the school
and ask for one to be sent home with your child.
Please note that this program is OPTIONAL.
You can also go online to enroll your student in this program. See the link below:
Together, we can keep our children healthy, in school, and learning!
In good dental health,

News from our safety and security department
For all PLSD sporting events:
- 7th through 12th-grade students who would like to attend a Pickerington Local School District sporting event will now be required to present a valid school ID and their admission ticket. This ensures that only current students attend and helps us manage safety inside the stadium.
- A parent or guardian must accompany K-8 students to and during the event. Unaccompanied K-8 students will not be permitted inside the stadium. This policy is in place to ensure the safety of our younger students, who need supervision in such large and public settings. Once inside, students must stay with their supervising adult, responsible for their safety and behavior.
Parent information
Fairfield Elementary is a Title1 building which receives extra programming and/or funding for support. Please view the presentation on Title1 and Fairfield.
Transportation: Walkers/Bussers/ Car riders
It is VERY important that your child’s dismissal procedure remain consistent, however, we understand that there may be times that these plans will need to be changed. If you must change the way your child is to be dismissed, we ask that all changes be made in the PIKMYKID App. The cut off to make any change is 11:45am for AM Kindergarten and 3pm full day students. For any emergency changes after 11:45 am(for Morning KG) /3pm (for all others) please call the front office.
Are you a Walker? Walkers are only students who live within the 2 miles range from the school. For safety reasons please make sure your walker knows how to get home. If they don't please plan to pick them up in the car-line. Once they leave the school property the school is not responsible for making sure they get home safely. If you need to change them to the car-rider please make that change in the PIKMYKID app by 3pm.
Are you a Bus rider? Students residing more than 2.0 miles from school will be placed on a bus route with Petermann Transportation. If your student is assigned to a bus the only options for pick up at the end of the day is car-rider or after schoolYMCA/Daycare bus. For bus information please contact Peterman Transportation at 614-837-8525 or check the PLSD website for more information. No bus student is permitted to walk home or walk to another designated area ( outside of school) to be picked up by car. If you are picking up your student by car you must pick up on the car line only and make the change before 3pm in the PIKMYKID app.
Do you ride a Daycare Bus? Students attending an after school Daycare facility( such as Goddard and La Petite..etc) will be picked up by the designated Daycare bus. If your child is absent or picked up early from school please be sure to also contact the daycare to let them know they are absent as well. If they are not riding the daycare bus home please make the change in the PIKMYKID app as well as contact the Daycare facility.
We will send students home by what is listed in PikMyKid. Please do not communicate with the teacher or your student to make those changes. Thank you for following our procedures to ensure the safety of our students.
PikMyKid and parent pick up
To ensure an efficient and safe dismissal for students being picked up, please follow these simple procedures:
1. Make sure parent pick up is designated in the PikMyKid app. Students will default to either walker or bus rider and will need to be changed.
2. Dismissal begins at 3:55 and ends at approximately 4:15. Please be on time for pick up.
3. This year, we will not have you "announce" your students. You will place you student ID tag for PikMykid in view for the staff members to see. You will pull all the way up and wait for your student to arrive.
4. We realize that the line can be long at times but please be patient with our staff and the other families.
5. Families are responsible for picking up students by 4:15 which is the end of the day for staff. Failure to pick up students on time may result in students having to be dismissed to their district assigned transportation mode and will not be eligible for parent pick up.
