Leadership Message
The question put to Jesus was about priorities: Of all the commandments, which matters most? His answer brings faith and daily life together. Love God with your whole heart, and love your neighbour as yourself.
That can be a helpful question for us, too. When we decide how to respond to a disagreement, how to spend our time, or whether to make room for someone else, we can ask: Does this choice reflect love and respect for the person in front of me?
We won’t get every moment right, but we can keep returning to what Jesus says matters most. May this Gospel guide our choices at school and at home this week.

Celebrating Catholic Education Week!
Thank you to our students, staff, families, parish, and Confetti Sweets for making this week such a joyful celebration of our shared faith, community, and service.
Here is a look back at our week:
Monday: Focused on expressing our gratitude for our amazing staff! We kicked off the week with a Coffee Cart and cupcakes to celebrate our dedicated team.
Tuesday: We put our faith into action with a Kindness Challenge and Faith Day.
Wednesday: Focused on thanking and celebrating our incredible students! We played Catholic Trivia during announcements throughout the day and brought high energy to our Block 7 House Challenge Assembly.
Thursday: Focused on honoring and thanking our parents! Staff and students wore blue, celebrated Mass with Deacon Lynn in Mrs. Duncan’s Grade 6 class, and treated parents to cookies at afternoon pick-up and during our PAC Meeting.
Friday: Focused on thanking our clergy and parish staff! Students created heartfelt thank-you cards for our parish team and clergy.
Rooted. United. Sent. We are truly privileged to be part of a school community so deeply committed to faith, learning, and service.
Newsletter Translation Feature
As a dual track English and Ukranian school, we celebrate the richness of languages and cultures in our community. To help everyone stay connected, our weekly newsletters on Smore can be translated into the language of your choice. This feature is also helpful for our English as an Additional Language (EAL) families. Simply click on the menu in the top right corner of the newsletter to select your preferred language.
Month of the Holy Rosary
October is the Month of the Holy Rosary, a special time to honour Mary and reflect on the life of Jesus through prayer. The Rosary invites us to slow down, bring our hopes and worries to God, and trust in His loving presence.
As a school community, may we follow Mary’s example of faith, courage and openness to God. Whether we pray a full Rosary, a single decade or one Hail Mary, every prayer can help us grow closer to Jesus and to one another.
Lost and Found Items
Please have a look at the lost and found items in the front atrium over the next few weeks. It is full of jackets, water bottles, shoes and even swimsuits and googles. On Friday November 6th, all of the remaining items will be donated.
Evidence of Learning
During the last week of October, students will bring home evidence of learning from their classes. This may include assignments, assessments, or other examples of what they have been working on. Please take a few minutes to look through it together and ask your child what they’ve learned or what they feel proud of. It’s a helpful way to start a conversation about how their learning is going.
School Photos
How Parents can access their children’s images online:
• Go to mylifetouch.ca
• Click on “Student ID”
• Enter in your school's city, province and school name
• Follow the instructions to view and order your child’s photos
There will also be proofs sent to the school with access codes in the next week or so.
Three-Way (Parent-Teacher-Student) Conferences
Parent-Student-Teacher interviews will take place:
Wednesday, November 4: 3:00–6:30 p.m.

Halloween
Halloween is coming, and we have a fun day planned for Friday, October 30. Students are welcome to come dressed in a school-appropriate costume.
In the morning, students will take part in a block of Halloween activities led by our Leadership students. In the afternoon, classes will have time for their own Halloween activities.
We look forward to a fun day together. Thank you for helping us make it enjoyable for everyone!
St. Theresa House System
Our House System brings students across Grades 5–8 together to build friendships, show school spirit and put our faith into action. Inspired by St. Thérèse’s “Little Way,” each House celebrates a saint and a value we can practise in small, everyday ways:
St. Carlo Acutis: Faith
St. Josephine Bakhita: Courage
St. Oscar Romero: Justice
St. Francis of Assisi: Service
Students can earn House points by showing these values, taking part in school activities and supporting one another. We’re looking forward to celebrating the many ways our students help make St. Theresa a welcoming and caring community.
Hawks Athletics
Volleyball:
Congratulations to the volleyball teams for their success at last weekend’s Woolly Bully tournament at Ardrossan Jr/Sr High. The girls team continued their string of recent success by winning the championship! The boys also found success throughout the weekend, but unfortunately lost in the championship match ending their undefeated streak and ending the weekend as silver medalists.
There were no league games this week, but next week will be another busy week for the teams:
Monday, October 26 @ Forest Grove (girls @ 4:00, boys @ 5:00)
Thursday, October 29 @ SCA (both games @ 4:00)
Friday, October 30 & Saturday, October 31 - Lakeland Ridge Howler tournament

Parent Societies
Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
The St. Theresa Parent Advisory Council performs many vital functions for our school community, by helping to facilitate school wide student functions and providing valuable funding to our school via fundraising. Parents involved in the PAC learn about planning and development within the school and are part of the planning process. These roles make their involvement very important to the families, administration and teachers.
