Principal's Message
Dear Rancho Viejo Middle School Families,
It’s been an incredible month here at "The Ranch," filled with achievements, celebrations, and so much pride. I'm thrilled to highlight some wonderful milestones that showcase the hard work, dedication, and excellence of our students and staff.
First, I am incredibly proud to announce that Rancho Viejo Middle School has the distinct honor of representing two remarkable members of our staff for Hemet Unified School District awards. Congratulations to Mrs. Jenny Rice, who has been named Teacher of the Year! Mrs. Rice's passion and dedication to our students and school community truly set her apart, and we’re so grateful for her impact here at Rancho Viejo. In addition, we’re honored to celebrate Ms. Chelsey Hallberg, who has been recognized as Counselor of the Year. Ms. Hallberg’s commitment to supporting our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth is a cornerstone of our success. We are proud of both Mrs. Rice and Ms. Hallberg for their well-deserved recognition!
In addition to these individual honors, our school as a whole is advancing toward a tremendous achievement: Rancho Viejo Middle School has progressed to the next level of consideration to become a School to Watch! This prestigious recognition program highlights high-performing middle schools in California that make a positive impact on students and the community, and we are honored to be considered. Thank you to our teachers, staff, students, and families for contributing to this journey—we’re excited about what’s ahead!
We also had a vibrant College Kick-Off this month, sparking college aspirations and future planning among our students. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm as they explored the opportunities ahead.
Our students continue to excel academically, and we celebrated numerous Student of the Month awards this month. It’s rewarding to see their hard work paying off and to recognize the commitment each student has to their education and personal growth.
I could not be prouder of the dedication and excellence displayed across our school community. Rancho Viejo is truly thriving, and it’s thanks to the contributions of each of you. Let’s continue this momentum forward!
Go Mavericks!
Warm regards,
William Prudhomme

Triad Rewards!
We are thrilled to announce our first Triad Reward celebration of the school year! At Rancho Viejo, students earn points each triad by demonstrating STAR expectations—being Safe, Thoughtful, Accountable, and Respectful. This reward program recognizes and celebrates those students who consistently embody these values in their daily actions. Thanks to their dedication, these students had the opportunity to participate in a fun and memorable celebration that reflects their positive impact on our school community. We’re so proud of all our STAR students and look forward to seeing even more students join in these celebrations throughout the year! Keep up the great work, Mavericks!
Department of the Month!
PE Department
Our Physical Education department at Rancho Viejo Middle School has had an outstanding start to the year! With an emphasis on building a positive and engaging environment, our PE teachers have successfully encouraged students to dress out regularly and actively participate in all activities. By focusing on teaching the fundamentals of physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship, our PE program is shaping well-rounded, active students who are excited to learn and have fun. Our teachers lead by example, often joining in activities with students, which has fostered a great sense of community and enjoyment in the program. We’re proud of our PE department for making fitness enjoyable and accessible for all!
Proud Moments
Hemet Unified School District's Teacher of the Year!
Jenny Rice, our dedicated 6th-grade ELA teacher and department lead, exemplifies what it means to be a Hemet Employee of Excellence. She is deeply committed to equipping our middle school students with the skills to become proficient readers and writers, creating engaging academic opportunities that foster growth in literacy. Beyond her classroom, Jenny plays an active role in school committees that drive Rancho Viejo Middle School toward achieving our literacy goals. Her unwavering support, approachability, and enthusiasm make her a cherished member of our community, and both students and staff adore her. We are incredibly proud to work alongside such an inspiring educator who truly elevates our school.
Hemet Unified School District's Counselor of the Year!
Chelsey Hallberg is truly a cornerstone of Rancho Viejo Middle School, known for her exceptional organization and adaptability to meet any need that arises. As our Counseling Lead, she continually seeks ways to enhance our systems schoolwide, demonstrating a commitment that has profoundly impacted both students and staff. Through her dedicated work with the RVMS Care Team, Chelsey has provided vital support to thousands of students, making a meaningful difference in their lives. Chelsey's dedication exemplifies the spirit of a Hemet Employee of Excellence, and we are proud to have her on our team.
Crystal Apple Recipients
We are immensely proud of our PE teacher, Mr. Baldocchi, and our Campus Security Officer, Angel, who were recently honored with the Crystal Apple Award, presented by our Superintendent. This recognition celebrates the bravery and quick action these men demonstrated when they apprehended an intruder who entered our campus during the school day. Their courage and dedication to keeping Rancho Viejo Middle School safe ensured that no harm came to our students or staff. We are grateful for Mr. Baldocchi and Angel’s commitment to our community’s safety, and we commend them for their heroic actions that protected us all.

College & Career Kickoff!
This month, our counselors provided an exciting opportunity for students to explore their future career paths through engaging career surveys. These surveys helped students discover potential careers that align with their interests, strengths, and passions. By guiding students through this self-discovery process, our counselors have opened the door to meaningful discussions about future goals, academic pathways, and personal growth.
