Please know that we take many considerations into account when configuring classes. With the knowledge of all our students we consider factors such as academics, individual student support and behaviour plans, and social dynamics just to name a few. Our entire staff is involved to ensure we create as balanced and as great of classroom experiences as possible for our school community. Our number one goal is to do our best to make sure that students are in classes that set them up for success for the upcoming year.
Please note, there are a TON of factors that go into the creation of these lists and because of this, considerations for changes will only be given in cases where there are well documented educational concerns or issues.
Meet the Teacher Night : we will host this event on Thursday, Aug. 27 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. We want to give our students the opportunity to bring in their supplies and see their new classroom before school officially begins on Monday, Aug. 31. We look forward to seeing you all then!
We wish everyone a fantastic week!

Student Transportation: 2026-27 registration
Planning to use Student Transportation in the 2026-27 school year? If so, make sure your child is registered so Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) can plan routes and send your child a bus pass before the first day of school.
All students who indicated needing transportation services through the returning student or new student registration processes are now registered. Those families have also received tentative route schedules and invoices—fees are due June 30, 2026.
For those students who did not indicate needing transportation services during the registration process and want to now register, complete a Busing Setup form through the Transportation Service Desk.
NOTE: Families can pay fees online using the PowerSchool Parent Portal for current students or Student Quick Pay for new students . To pay in-person, visit the EIPS Student Transportation building during its office hours—Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on school days and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on school closure days.
Little Elk Island Adventure: Registration
Elk Island Public Schools is once again planning to run the Little Elk Island Adventure, a fun and informative program for first-time school bus riders.
Annually, Student Transportation offers the Little Elk Island Adventure to new riders and their parents. The program’s aim: To help introduce families to busing so they feel comfortable and at ease before even starting school. Through a series of activities, riders learn about school bus safety, danger zones, tips on boarding and how to sit properly on the bus. After that, both the children and parents hop on the bus to practice what they’ve learned by venturing out on a short ride.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
More information about busing for kindergarten children is available at: eips.ca/transportation/kindergarten-busing-faq.
Reminder: School Fees now due.
School fees for the 2025-26 school year are posted on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted. Throughout the year, fees are often added to cover the costs for various activities, such as field trips, extracurricular activities, and late, damaged or lost textbooks.
To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view fees and pay them online using a Mastercard or Visa credit or debit card, or EFT (Electronic Funds Payment) which is a new option! Make sure to monitor your child’s account on an ongoing basis.
For more information about school fees, waivers and payment deadlines, visit eips.ca/schools/fees. And, if you have questions, think there’s an error or need help creating a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, contact your child’s school directly before the summer break.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Pursuant to Board Policy 23: School Fees and Administrative Procedure 505: School and Administrative Fees, EIPS will forward any unpaid 2025-26 fee amounts to a collection agency. To prevent this from happening, remember to pay your fees before Aug. 31, 2026.
A New School Fee Payment Option is now available for EIPS families!
Elk Island Public Schools is excited to share that a new payment option is available in your PowerSchool Parent Portal account as of May 22, 2026: EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer), also known as E-Cheque. Note that this is NOT an e-transfer, as EFT draws funds directly from your bank account. EFT provides a secure and convenient option that allows you to pay directly from your bank account, giving families added flexibility beyond credit or debit card payments.
When you log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal, click on the fees icon and proceed to checkout, you’ll now see EFT (E-Cheque) listed as a payment option. Simply follow the on-screen instructions to complete your payment.
To make checkout even faster, you can save EFT to your account for future use.
Log in to your PowerSchool Parent Portal account
Open the menu
Select Manage Payment Methods
Add and save your EFT (E-Cheque) details
Once saved, you can select EFT at checkout without re-entering your information each time.
This EFT PDF provides extra details of the benefits of using EFT. For more information, visit eips.ca. If you have any questions or need assistance, reach out to the office at 780-998-3741.

Kindergarten Registration now open!
Is your child turning five on or before Dec. 31, 2026?
Kindergarten registration for the 2026-27 school year opened on Feb. 1, 2026.
To help families prepare, Elk Island Public Schools has put together an online EIPS Kindergarten Tool kit to make the transition as smooth as possible. The kit includes information on registration, important dates, programming options, what to expect, eligibility, how to find your designated school, transportation and more.

Pre-kindergarten intake for 2026-27 is now open!
Elk Island Public Schools is proud to offer a variety of pre-kindergarten programming and locations across the Division. EIPS offers two different pre-kindergarten options:
*NEW* Early Learners in Motion (ELM)
ELM is a fun, inclusive pre-kindergarten program for all learners, aged four to five years old, that blends early literacy, movement, music and play-based learning. The ELM approach encourages curiosity, creativity and social-emotional growth through hands-on, joyful experiences.
Play and Learn at School (PALS)
PALS is a pre-kindergarten program for children who qualify for Program Unit Funding (PUF), such as those with communication delays, autism or social-emotional challenges. PALS pre-kindergarten offers a fun, play-based environment where kids can learn and develop skills for future success.
Interested in learning more about EIPS pre-kindergarten programs? Refer to the EIPS pre-kindergarten page. Are you ready to submit your intake form for either ELM or PALS pre-kindergarten? Submit the 2026-27 Pre-Kindergarten Intake form, and the EIPS team will get back to you with next steps.
2025–26 EIPS Annual Feedback Survey: For Parents and Caregivers – Results now available
The results of the 2025–26 EIPS Annual Feedback Survey: For Parents and Caregivers are now available. In March, the Division conducted the annual survey, which helps EIPS gauge its progress toward meeting the goals and priorities outlined in its Four-Year Education Plan. Families were asked a series of questions about their experiences with EIPS and the school their child attends, the overall performance of the Division, the quality of education being provided to students and areas for improvement.
Thank you to all families who took the time to share their feedback with the Division. Overall, the survey received approximately 1,600 responses from parents and caregivers across EIPS. The Division, and schools, will now review the feedback in detail and use it to develop new strategies to serve students and the wider community better.
The full results are available online:
EIPS’ Annual Education Results Report 2024-25 is now available online. The report details how EIPS is doing relative to Alberta Education and Childcare’s performance measures; how it’s supporting students to achieve the best possible outcomes; and its successes, challenges and priority strategies moving forward. Division Code of Conduct
EIPS has three administrative procedures (APs) that address the Division’s code of conduct:
· AP 311: Welcoming, Caring, Respectful and Safe Learning Environments for Students
· AP 350: Student Code of Conduct
· AP 351: Student Conduct on School Buses
The Division, and École Parc Élémentaire, are committed to ensuring all members of the school community are provided with welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments that respect diversity and foster a sense of belonging. EIPS encourages all students, staff and families to review the procedures to understand and practice the conduct expected throughout the Division.
Personal Mobile Devices at School
As a reminder, EIPS has outlined rules about the use of personal mobile devices for each grade level in Administrative Procedure (AP) 145: Use of Personal Mobile Devices. Processes outlined within this AP are based on direction provided by the provincial government through Ministerial Order 014/2024: Standards for the Use of Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media in Schools. This includes the use of various electronic devices, including smartwatches and Meta glasses. École Parc also has a Personal Mobile Device Plan that provides additional details for our school.
Families were provided with an opportunity to review these documents at the start of the school year. We encourage you to review them again with your child to ensure students understand where and when students can and cannot access their personal mobile devices at school.
Video surveillance at schools and on buses
Did you know each EIPS bus is equipped with video surveillance, and many school sites have video monitoring equipment?
Video surveillance and equipment help:
· ensure the safety of all students, staff, drivers and property; and
· discourage destructive acts.
As needed, EIPS school administration and Student Transportation staff review video recordings, in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act. The recordings assist schools and the Division with monitoring student and driver conduct and may be used as evidence in a disciplinary matter.
For more information about the collection, use and disclosure of personal information, contact the EIPS FOIP Co-ordinator at 780-464-3477.
