As we head into the fourth quarter, it’s hard to believe how quickly the school year is flying by! Spring is always one of the most exciting times in middle school, and we have so many great opportunities ahead for our students to learn, grow, and connect.

First, a heartfelt thank you to our families for your continued support—whether through donations, volunteering, or simply cheering on your students each day. It truly makes a difference in the experiences we’re able to provide.

Looking ahead, we have some wonderful opportunities coming up this month, including chances to volunteer for our 6th Grade Outdoor School—a highlight of the year for many of our students! If you’re able to help, we’d love to have you be part of this memorable experience.

We’ll also be entering state testing season, and we appreciate your support in helping students come prepared, well-rested, and ready to do their best. As always, we are happy to provide a nutritious breakfast when your students arrives at school to set them up for success for their day.

As we begin this final quarter, it’s a great time to sit down with your student and talk about how they want to finish the year. Encourage them to set goals, stay focused, and take pride in their learning. We ask that you continue to reinforce your high expectations at home, just as we will continue to uphold our high expectations for learning and behavior here at school—right up to the very last day.

Let’s finish the year strong, together! 💪📚

Warmly,

Agnes Stewart Middle School

Attendance Reminder for Families 📚

If you receive an attendance call after school, please connect directly with your child’s teacher through ParentVUE rather than calling the office. Our office staff aren’t in the classroom and don’t have the specific details for individual tardies or absences. Teachers are your best (and fastest!) source of information when it comes to attendance. Thank you for helping us keep communication smooth and efficient!

We are so excited to share highlights from our incredible Spring Break trip to Washington, D.C. and New York City with Ms. Hendrix and an amazing group of students!

From exploring historic landmarks in our nation’s capital to experiencing the energy of NYC, this trip was filled with unforgettable learning opportunities, new experiences, and lasting memories. Our students represented our school so well—we are so proud of their curiosity, responsibility, and enthusiasm throughout the journey!

A huge thank you to Ms. Hendrix for organizing such a meaningful experience and to our students for making it so special. Here are some photos documenting their trip from their arrival, to Washington's monument and the Capitol Building to Time Square and Ghost Tours to a Broadway Show and meeting Aladin!

Interested in future travel opportunities? We are beginning to plan our next trip for Spring Break 2028! If you have a current 5th or 6th grade student who would be interested in traveling to Washington, D.C. and New York, please reach out to Ms. Hendrix for more information: taylor.hendrix@springfield.k12.or.us

Please encourage your student to stop by the Lost & Found to look for any missing items. We have many jackets, water bottles, and other belongings that are waiting to be claimed! Since many items look alike, please double check your students belongings to ensure the item they take truly belongs to them. Thank you for helping us return items to their rightful owners!

For several years, Springfield Public Schools purchased 1Passes, and all students could participate in a lottery to receive these district-paid passes. This year, school district funds are limited, and there will not be a lottery. However, SPS was able to purchase a limited number of 1Passes from Willamalane to distribute to eligible SPS families. Stay tuned for more information.

We have some volunteer opportunities coming up and we would love to see you there!

Our goal is to determine by 6:30 a.m. whether school will be delayed, closed or open as usual. Remember, no news means no change. You can ensure that you will receive announcements of delays and closures in several key ways:

Make sure that your contact information is up to date with your student's school.
Follow SPS on Facebook, Instagram and X.

School starts at 8:15am and students are released at 3:05pm.

Parenting Healthy Preteens is a supportive new program for the Parents of Preteens (4th-6th graders). There are few resources out there for families of children this age and we are excited to offer the program again this summer. Weekly groups focus on supporting our preteens' self-esteem, mental health, and success at home and school, as well as ways to take care of ourselves as parents.
