The Power of Followership by Dr. Leah Georges

As a culture, we have been often told to "lead and not follow." In fact, much time, attention, and money is spent training leaders to most effectively mentor and guide their organizations. However, there is another important side of the leadership story—Followership.

Dr. Leah Georges, a professor at Creighton University’s Interdisciplinary Ed.D. Program in Leadership, studies among other things, the profound effectiveness of leaders who have first mastered the skill and discipline of followership. She notes that often the very best number ones, were first exceptionally potent seconds in command.
