The holy month of Ramadan has begun and this year it is predicted to continue until 19th/20th March 2026.

We want to make sure we provide appropriate support to children and families who celebrate and take part in this significant and special time.

Please note that ONLY children who are in Year 5 and 6 can fast during school days where they do NOT have school trips or PE lessons. Children who are fasting in school must have the permission of their parents or carers. Please send permission via the admin email admin@bonneville-primary.lambeth.sch.uk

Those fasting will be encouraged to avoid excessive physical activity.

If a child feels unwell or wishes to break their fast, they should let a member of staff know and we will provide them something to eat or drink.

We will expect children to break their fast if there is a concern regarding their health or safety and we will seek to contact parent/carer in such a situation. If we cannot make contact, we will expect the child to break their fast.

Thank you for your co-operation in making sure we have a safe and supportive environment for all children during Ramadan.

For those who are observing and taking part, we wish you a peaceful and blessed month – Ramadan Mubarak!

To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th March, we are inviting women from our school community and beyond to volunteer and take part in our annual International Women’s Day event on Friday 6th March. This important day celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women and helps inspire children to believe in equality, ambition, and opportunity.

We are looking for volunteers from a wide range of industries, professions, interests, and life experiences to visit a class and speak with pupils for a short 15-minute session, sharing their knowledge, experiences, or career journey. These sessions play an important role in broadening children’s aspirations and introducing them to diverse role models.

Full guidance and support will be provided to all volunteers who sign up.
If you are interested in taking part, please register using the link below:
https://forms.gle/UH27i1g2i4Ypkuk76

A gentle reminder to families to please ensure children come to school wearing the correct school uniform each day. Wearing uniform helps create a sense of belonging, supports equality, and ensures children are comfortable and ready to learn. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain high standards across the school.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. I wish you all a happy, healthy, and successful Spring term.

See you at the gate between 8.45am and 9.00am!

Modern Foreign Language Week Modern Foreign Language Week

Modern Foreign Language Week (MFL Week) will take place from 23rd–27th February, and we are excited to use this time to celebrate the rich range of languages and cultures represented in our school community.

As part of the week, we would love to invite parents and carers to visit school to share your home language and culture with the children. If you are available to come in for 10–15 minutes during MFL Week, please speak with your child’s class teacher to arrange a suitable day and time. If you are able to visit more than one class, please let the teacher know.

Some ideas for activities include:

  • Reading a short story in your home language

  • Teaching simple vocabulary such as greetings, colours or numbers

  • Sharing cultural objects or pictures

  • Teaching a song in your home language

Please note that, due to allergies, we ask that no food is brought into school.

During MFL Week we will also be celebrating Spanish, which is taught to all pupils from Nursery through to Year 6. Learning Spanish helps children develop communication skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in language learning. Spanish is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, with over 20 countries using it as an official language and hundreds of millions of speakers globally. To support this celebration, our catering team will be hosting a Spanish-themed menu during the week.

We look forward to welcoming you into school and thank you in advance for your support in helping us celebrate languages and cultures together.

hursday 5th March 2026

World Book Day is being celebrated at Bonneville Primary School on Thursday 5th March 2026.

We would love the children to come to school dressed as their favourite Book Character.

Except, Year 3, who will have their dress up day the following day, Friday 6th March 2026 due to 3M going to swimming on the Thursday.

Please do not feel you need to buy anything. Often the best costumes are those that have been put together with items already in the home. Have a look here for some inspiration: https://www.worldbookday.com/celebrate-world-book-day/dressing-up/

We are inviting parents and carers to join us for a Reading Morning. Please come in at 8:45am to spend time reading with your child. The reading morning will finish at 9:10am.

Nearer the time, your child will receive a £1 book token. This can be used towards books at many participating retailers: https://www.worldbookday.com/books-and-tokens/books/participating-retailers/

Alternatively, you may choose to save your token to spend at our annual Scholastic Book Fair, which will run from Friday 13th March 2026 - Wednesday 18th March 2026. Every purchase made at the Book Fair helps to raise funds that will be used to buy new books for our school.

We look forward to celebrating a love of reading together.

Homework

Please help support your child with their spelling by looking at the spelling rules, sounds and patterns in each word. Practicing spellings daily (or as much as possible) will help your children to learn and remember each word. In KS1, children will need to choose five spelling words to put into sentences.

In KS2, children will need to write a sentence for each word, using neat, joined handwriting.

This will allow the children to understand the meaning of each word, put the word into context, and practice their handwriting.

All spelling books must be given to the Class Teacher every Wednesday. This will ensure that your teacher has enough time to get the new spellings stuck in. Children will be doing a weekly spelling test in the back of their homework books so you will be able to see how well they are doing.

Our school meals play an important role in supporting children’s health, wellbeing, and learning. Nutritious, balanced meals help children stay focused throughout the day, support physical development, and provide the energy needed for active learning and play.

School lunches also encourage children to try a wider variety of foods, develop healthy eating habits, and enjoy mealtimes as a positive social experience with their peers. Our menus are carefully planned to meet nutritional guidelines and cater for a range of dietary needs.

By choosing school meals, families can be confident that children are receiving a healthy, well-balanced lunch that supports both their learning and overall wellbeing. We are proud of the role our school meals service plays in helping our children thrive.

Help our PTA- We are all members of FAB!

We always need more help and support. A donation of one hour per term (that’s only three hours per year) of your time is all we ask, whether it be as a class rep, planning/hosting an event, or standing on a stall. Some parents very generously agreed to host an event like our amazing wreath-making workshop or the gathering of donations for our incredible raffles. Every parent is a member of FAB. I ask that everyone get involved.

Raising a Concern

It is important to us that any concerns or questions you may have are dealt with as efficiently as possible. The structure we have in place is designed to do just that.

The structure

1) Your first port of call is -Your child’s class teacher

(email via the admin team to request a meeting)

2) You may contact the leader of your child’s phase (see below)

This includes issues regarding communication and organisation

(email via the admin team to request a meeting)

Should you be dissatisfied with the handling or outcome...

3) You may raise your concerns with Ms Parker

(email via the admin team to request a meeting outlining the nature for the purpose of the meeting)

Leaders are required to share items (as appropriate) with Ms Parker on a weekly basis, even if the matter is being handled by them.

We request that you do not field your concerns to FAB but instead work directly with the school staff as outlined above.
