Weekly Message from Mrs. Hanford

Families,

We hope to see your family at our Trunk or Treat/Día de los Muertos event on Thursday, October 29th from 4:45 - 6:15 pm at First United Methodist Church (across from Truscott).

Families may wear their costumes to trick or treat in the parking lot. Also, there will be activities for families and food. We will move to the Truscott gym if the weather is poor. We can't wait to see you there!

With the changes in weather, please send layers of clothing to school with your children. We appreciate if these are labeled so we can get their clothing back to them. Thanks for your help!

All the best,

Karen Hanford

Letter from the District about the Climate and Culture Survey

Notice: 2026-27 Climate and Culture Survey

In order to learn more about student experiences at school, we ask students in grades 3-12 to participate in an online survey. The survey content asks students to self-reflect on emotional regulation, social awareness, growth mindset, perseverance, sense of belonging, school safety, and teacher-student relationships.

Your student will be invited to participate in the full online survey during regular school hours at the end of October. When the survey is introduced, students will be invited to participate and informed that they do not have to answer any questions they do not wish to answer. The full survey should take no more than 20-30 minutes to complete.

In addition to this full survey, students will also have opportunities throughout the year to take shorter, more frequent surveys called Check-ins. These Check-ins will take just a few minutes to complete and will use questions drawn from and aligned to the full survey. This will provide timely feedback on how students are feeling and engaging in their learning. The information gathered from Check-ins will help school staff provide more immediate and responsive support for students.

You can review survey questions here: Grades 3-5 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 6-12 SEL Competencies Survey, Grades 3-5 Supports & Environments Survey, Grades 6-12 Supports & Environments Survey

Student responses to both the full survey and Check-ins will follow our district’s expectations for maintaining confidentiality for your student. Our this-party vendor, Panorama, has signed the district's data privacy agreement to ensure all required online encryption protocols are followed.

Parents/guardians have already provided your consent or opt-out through online registration or annual family update; if you have any questions, please contact Tanya Brown 970 613 6917 tanya.brown@tsd.org

Tanya Brown (970)613-6917 tanya.brown@tsd.org

Subaru of Loveland

Subaru of Loveland recently partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org to surprise our teachers at Truscott with a $5,000 donation and school supply kits during a back-to-school celebration. They also provided breakfast for our teachers.

The donation was made as part of Subaru Loves Learning®, a national program championed by Subaru of America, Inc. that helps provide funding for teachers at high-needs schools across the country to purchase the school supplies and resources needed to help their students succeed.

We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation and continued support from Subaru of Loveland as part of their Subaru Loves Learning initiative. These essential supplies will make a significant impact on our students’ success this year. Our teachers, staff, and entire school community extend our heartfelt thanks for this support.

Mrs. Karen Hanford

Information from their website-

Subaru of Loveland’s donation will benefit more than 250 students by providing teachers with $500 worth of funding each to purchase supplies for the school year on the AdoptAClassroom.org Marketplace.

According to AdoptAClassroom.org, a staggering 92% of teachers nationwide have students from families who can’t afford any school supplies. This leads to teachers spending an average of $860 out of their own pockets each year to equip their classrooms.

To learn more about the Subaru Loves Learning initiative and the partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, visit subaru.com/learning or follow #SubaruLovesLearning on social media.
