KMS NEWSLETTER

Kodiak Middle School is celebrating an incredible achievement this week. Both our boys and girls basketball teams traveled to the Mat-Su Valley for the Small Schools Tournament and brought home first place trophies. This is an outstanding accomplishment and a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork our athletes show day after day. We are so proud of each player who represented KMS with skill, sportsmanship, and determination.
A huge thank you goes to our coaches for their leadership, preparation, and support throughout the season.
Cheer coaches: Cindy Monte and Amanda LeDoux
Girls Basketball coaches: Jonathan Sanchez and Thomas Slagle
Boys coaches: Zach Keplinger and Mark Vizcocho.
Their commitment to our student athletes makes all the difference.
We also want to celebrate our cheerleaders for their energy, spirit, and encouragement throughout the tournament. They helped keep our teams focused and lifted the crowd with their enthusiasm.
Please join us in congratulating all of our athletes, coaches, and cheerleaders on this extraordinary accomplishment. Way to go, KMS!
CELEBRATING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE: QUARTER 1 AT KMS
Kodiak Middle School proudly held our Academic Achievement Assembly this week to recognize students who demonstrated exceptional growth, effort, and excellence in their learning during Quarter 1. We celebrated outstanding achievements in multiple areas, including MAP Assessment scores, individual classroom successes, and our three levels of Honor Roll recognition.
Students earning a 3.0 to 3.49 GPA were named to the Honor Roll, those earning a 3.5 to 3.99 GPA received High Honor Roll, and students earning a perfect 4.0 GPA or higher were recognized with Distinguished Honor Roll. These accomplishments reflect a strong commitment to learning and a willingness to push through challenges.
We are incredibly proud of every student who was honored. Their hard work, curiosity, and dedication show what is possible when students set goals and believe in their ability to grow. Congratulations to all of our MAP high scorers, classroom award recipients, and Honor Roll students!

KMS SGA THANKSGIVING DINNER IN A BOX FOOD DRIVE
KMS Student Government is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Dinner in a Box food drive to support KMS families in need. We will be collecting items from November 17 to 20, and distribution will take place November 24 and 25. Students can drop off their assigned items in their first period class. Items will be gathered during Flex.
We are also asking for donations of turkeys.
Each class has been assigned a specific Thanksgiving menu item. Please check with your student or refer to the class list to see which item their class is responsible for. If we collect more food than needed, the extras will be donated to the Salvation Army food pantry.
Thank you for helping us support our community during the holiday season.
COOKIE DOUGH PICKUP IS TUESDAY, NOV 18
Our cookie dough orders are arriving soon. Pickup will take place on Tuesday, November 18 in front of the high school.
If your student sold more than five tubs of cookie dough, a parent or caregiver must pick up the order between 3 and 7 p.m. If your student sold fewer than five tubs, they will be released a few minutes early to walk to the high school and collect their tubs to take home with them on the bus, walking, or parent pick-up.
!! Important !!
Families are responsible for picking up and delivering all cookie dough orders.
Cookie dough must stay frozen, so please deliver orders to customers the same evening. The school does not have freezer space to hold any unclaimed tubs.
If you have any questions, please text Beate Daly, PTSA President, at 907-942-7927.
6TH GRADE CHEERLEADING
KMS 6th grade Cheerleading starts
Thursday, November 20,
from 4:00 to 5:15pm
in the KMS Dance Studio
Students must have a current physical and risk form on file in order to participate.
This is a great chance for our 6th graders to try cheerleading and build new skills. If you have any questions, please email Dr. Cindy Monte
STEM Bridge-Building Challenge
Ms. Z/Ms. Glover's STEM Flex class recently took on an exciting engineering challenge to create the strongest possible bridge using only a single index card and one foot of tape. Students tested their bridges by loading them with pennies to see how much weight each design could hold.
Congratulations to Team K.E.V. (Kendall, Elsi, and Violet), whose bridge held an incredible 202 pennies and earned the title of strongest bridge.
