Please be on the lookout for an email from Ms. Wheeler Friday morning, July 10, 2026, regarding classroom teacher assignments. The emails will be sent via email to the primary contact in Infinite Campus.
We hope each of our students, staff, and families are continuing to enjoy their summer break.
Open House / Come on in & meet the Staff
To assist with parking during this event, we encourage families with last names A-L to attend 4-5pm and whose M-Z attend 5-6pm.
💡 Things to Review & Take Action
As we welcome students and families to school, we wanted to share important information regarding Eaton's day to day processes and procedures that will help all stakeholders make a smooth transition to the school year.
- We love celebrating birthdays. However, we ask that families avoid using the sidewalks or other lawn decorations to celebrate. We encourage families to connect with our PTA and "Paint the Rock' as an option.
- Birthday Celebrations: If your student has a birthday within the first four (4) weeks or the last four (4) weeks of the school year, we encourage you to select alternative days to celebrate as visitors are not permitted during these weeks.
- Lunch Visits: Starting August 17, 2026, families in Grades 1-5 are welcome to visit during lunches as long as they have completed Level I volunteer training (see below under district information). Families with kindergarten students will be told a later date for when they may come. Delaying lunch visits helps establish strong school based routines for students.
- Kindergarten students will be assigned a 'staggared start day' and will attend one (1) of the first three (3) days of the school year. This allows for a small group of students on each of the first three (3) days to help kindergarten students adjust and acclimate to Eaton and the structures of attending school. On their first day of school only, kindergarten families have a special parking area in front of the school, and parents may walk students to their classroom.

Car Riders: Morning Drop Off & Pick Up Information
New Hanover County Schools
The deadline to request new bus transportation was June 23, 2026. If you had a regular route last year, then you are on a route to start the new year.
If your child was not on a route least year and needs to ride the bus to and/or from school for the 2026-2027 school year, please contact Jessica Liverman. This process may take up to two (2) weeks to secure a route after the school year has started and will not be available the first days of school.
If you have a Kindergarten, 1st Grade or 2nd Grade student that will be riding the bus home and will need to get off the bus without parent or guardian present at the bus stop, please download, complete, and return the appropriate form below:

Bus stop information (if you requested by Jun 23, 2026 deadline) or those that were on a route last year can locate their information in Infinite Campus. A representative from NHCS Transportation will be on side during Open House.
Chipmunk Bus Tracking App
HOW TO TRACK YOUR BUS
The best way to track your bus is by downloading the NEW Chipmunk Bus Tracking App. The App provides secure, personalized bus information so you can see your student's bus in real time. It also notifies you of scheduled pickup and drop-off times, as well as any bus substitutions.
Please note: Only student contacts with an email address listed in your student's Infinite Campus account are eligible to enroll.

New Hanover County Schools Parent and Caregiver Academy (PAC Academy) seeks to partner with NHCS staff and community organizations to offer parent education and family support throughout New Hanover County. The PAC Academy strives to build to bridge the gap between our NHCS school staff and the families we serve, equipping parents with the necessary tools, resources, and support to increase student outcomes.
Families may contact the Parent & Caregiver Academy by contacting PACAcademy@nhcs.net and view previous workshops by clicking the YouTube link below.
Volunteering within New Hanover County Schools
Volunteers at Eaton may begin supporting teachers and students on August 17, 2026.
Volunteer training must be completed EVERY year for Level I -- This means that you want to come in to the school, have lunch with your student, and support students and staff! Please click the shared link and review the NHCS Volunteer Orientation and complete the Volunteer Orientation Assessment. This is Level I volunteering!
Level II: This is required every three (3) years -- this means you want to attend a field trip! This requires an application, background check and approval at district level.
