From the Principal-Our Falcons are off to a SOARing Start!
Hello Riverview Families,
What an amazing first few days of school we’ve had! Our hallways have been filled with smiles, energy, and the excitement of new beginnings. Students are settling into routines, reconnecting with friends, and already showing us how ready they are to learn and grow this year.
A huge thank-you to our staff, students, and families for making the start of the year so smooth. Your partnership truly sets the tone for a successful school year. As we move into Week 2, we’ll continue focusing on building strong classroom communities, practicing procedures, and setting high expectations for learning and behavior.
Don’t forget to ask your student how our Riverview Falcons SOAR—it’s a great way to spark conversation and reinforce the positive expectations we’re building together.
We’re looking forward to all the wonderful things this year will bring. Thank you for your continued support!
August 25th: PTA General Meeting

- If your child will be absent, please notify both the office and their classroom teacher. Consistent attendance and on-time arrivals help set students up for success.
Connect, Align, Grow
How Our Goals Connect with the Community
At Riverview, our Connect, Align, and Grow goals aren’t just for school, they thrive when our whole community is part of the journey.
-
Connect: Building strong, trusting relationships between students, staff, and families helps every child feel safe, valued, and ready to learn.
-
Align: Working together—home, school, and community, means students hear consistent messages and expectations wherever they go.
-
Grow: When we nurture curiosity, resilience, and responsibility, students become confident learners and caring citizens who make a difference in our community.
CONNECT – Building Strong Relationships
At Riverview, we believe students learn best when they feel supported, known, and valued by the adults in our building. Our goal is for every student to have strong, positive connections with their teachers and other staff members. These relationships create a safe space for learning, encourage confidence, and help students know they have a team cheering them on every day.How Families Can Help This Week: Encourage your child to greet their teacher or another staff member by name each morning, ask a question, or share something they’re excited about. These small daily interactions help build trust and connection that last all year.
Celebrations & Shoutouts
Essentials Team
This week, we’re celebrating our incredible Essentials Team!
They did an amazing job teaching all our Riverview Falcons how to SOAR in every area of the school. Students learned what it looks and sounds like to SOAR in the hallways, cafeteria, restrooms, classrooms, arrival and dismissal, assemblies, playground, and even on the bus.
A big thank you to this dedicated team for setting our students up for success from day one. Because of their hard work, our Falcons are now ready to SOAR everywhere they go!
5th Grade Band Information
Nurse Updates
A nurse is now available in the office, so please feel free to call or stop by if you need to:
-
Drop off medications or medication orders
-
Inform us of any new health conditions
-
Provide updated immunization records (especially if your child is new to Riverview)
-
Submit a physical exam form (required if your child is attending a Kansas school for the first time and is 8 years old or younger)
We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your child’s backpack. Accidents and spills—especially during lunch—are common, and we may not always have extra clothing in the right size.
If you prefer, you may also email our nurses directly:

Nancy Tausz – ntausz@usd232.org
Visitor Management System
USD 232 continue using visitor management system this year through Centegix. All visitors will continue checking in through the office, however an ID will be a requirement. This ID will be entered into the Centegix system and will create a sticker with a picture that must be visibly worn throughout the building. Nobody will be allowed in the building without an ID. Thank you in advance for your patience as we implement this new system!
Arrival/Dismissal
Car Loop Tips for a Smooth Pick-Up & Drop-Off
To help keep our car loop moving safely and efficiently:
-
Have your child practice getting in and out of their car seat or seatbelt on their own.
-
Parents, please stay in your vehicle—our staff or Honor Patrol helpers will assist as needed.
-
A folder, sign, or paper with your student’s name displayed helps us get them to your car more quickly.
Thank you for helping us keep the process safe, smooth, and speedy for everyone!
Forgot Something? Use Our Drop-Off Table!
For your convenience, we have a Drop-Off Table located just inside the front doors. If your student forgot something, like their lunch, instrument, glasses, or any other classroom item, you can simply buzz in, drop it off, and be on your way. No need to sign in or go through the visitor management system. Just remember to write your student’s name on the sticky notes provided so we can make sure it gets to them quickly. Thank you for helping keep our drop-offs smooth and efficient!
At Riverview we are very safety conscious. Please see the map below for specific arrival/dismissal details.

The Knight School Chess Team
The Knight School is returning this fall to Riverview Elementary! The Knight School Chess Team will be your school's official chess team and chess party.
This revolutionary, party-based approach to chess has had amazing success—winning multiple state championships—because our unique and unprecedented educational philosophy, “the chess party,” is the perfect way to transform a complete beginner into a devastating chess machine.
Our unique model has swept America because it has never been seen before: we simply invite every beginner in your school to join our school chess team and we use only super-fun teaching methods such as super-fast chess clock-slapping chess games, zany chess videos, a strict bully-free environment, silicone wristbands for tactics mastery, chess puzzlers for candy, driving music, hilarious tactics-lesson videos, Mardi-Gras bead chess tournaments each day we meet and National Online tournaments every weekend!
In this kid-centered classroom environment, we teach our kids every cool trick, strategy, opening, and tactic in chessdom and our kids soon learn to love and master chess and to masterfully control their classrooms, sports fields, and home lives as well! Laughter, fast clocks, and compelling teaching approaches make this class the week's highlight for the current 4500 Chess Party members who make up the awesome network of The Knight School's 300+ school chess teams.
Join The Knight School chess party and give your child the gift of amazing chess friends, undeniable academic confidence, self-identity as a smart kid, and a weekly dose of childhood joy that is the highlight of their week! Sign up today! Learn more and sign up for our school chess team at www.theknightschool.com or email Coach Brian Harris: brian@theknightschool.com (785) 341-6590.
