IB Campus Family Newsletter
November 2025
📝Message From the Principal
Dear IB Campus Families,
As we turn our calendars to November, a time of year that we typically pause to reflect on gratitude, I am reminded of the many reasons we have to be thankful at School Lane Charter School.
We recently concluded our fall sports season for soccer and cross country. I want to congratulate our student-athletes on their dedication, sportsmanship, and growth both on and off the field. Their commitment to balancing athletic pursuits with academic excellence exemplifies the IB learner profile's call to be balanced and principled. I am equally grateful to our coaches and families who supported our teams throughout the season.
The completion of our first marking period on November 14th gives us an opportunity to celebrate the tremendous progress our students have made. Our teachers have spent countless hours providing meaningful feedback, designing authentic assessments, and nurturing each student's academic and personal growth. The effort and perseverance I have witnessed from our students, whether navigating challenging coursework, engaging in thoughtful discussions, or supporting their peers, has been remarkable.
As we approach parent-teacher conferences on November 25th and 26th, I encourage you to take advantage of this important opportunity to connect with your child's teachers. These conversations are vital to our shared mission of supporting each student's success. The partnership between home and school is vitally important and I am deeply grateful for your ongoing engagement and trust.
As we gather with family and friends this Thanksgiving season, I hope you will take pride in all that our students and our community have accomplished together. Thank you for your continued commitment to making School Lane an exceptional place for learning and growth!
All the best,
Jim Munizza
Deputy CEO

✅2026-2027 Admissions
We are already in the thick of enrollment activities for the 2026-2027 school year! Upon enrolling new students, we typically ask families how they heard about School Lane. The most common response is word of mouth positive accounts from current School Lane families. We can’t thank you enough for that support in ensuring our enrollment remains strong!
To that end, we wanted to make you aware of big event coming up this month. In Person Applications for the waiting list and Kindergarten lottery begins on Saturday, November 15, 2025 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at both campuses. Families wishing to enroll new students at SLCS for next year are strongly encouraged to attend this event as spots on our waiting list are dictated by the date and time completed applications are received.
In person applications will be accepted during school hours beginning Monday, November 17th and will be available through Thursday, January 29th.
Online application will open on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 10:00 am. Please note that submission of the online application will put the student on the waiting list after all completed in person applications from November 15, 2025 through January 29, 2026.
Sibling Applications
Sibling Applications will open on Tuesday, November 25th at 1:00 PM at both campuses to coincide with Parent Teacher Conferences.
Beginning on Monday, December 1st, sibling applications will be accepted in person each school day between the hours of 9:00 AM and 2:00 PM at both campuses. Families interested in enrolling a sibling of a current School Lane student for the 2026-2027 school year in Grades K-12 should apply at this time. Siblings of current students are given first priority for any openings. A sibling is defined as one of two or more individuals having at least one common parent.
To complete your sibling application, you MUST bring the following documents with you:
- Proof of Age – Ex: Student’s State issued birth certificate or Passport, etc.
- Two proofs of residency (two more will be required once the sibling is accepted)
- One (1) must be proof of home ownership or lease agreement (agreement of sale/lease, mortgage statement, property deed, statement of homeowner’s insurance)
- One (1) additional proof of residency may be: another utility bill, pay stub, driver's license, vehicle registration card or car insurance.
All proofs of residency must include the parent/guardian’s current address.
Please note that if you live in a multiple occupancy situation, please email admissions@schoollane.org for a copy of the Multiple Occupancy form which must be completed and notarized in order for your application to be finalized.
If you have any questions please email admissions@schoollane.org
🎭Exhibitions of Learning
Grade 8
In the last few weeks the 8th Grade hosted an exhibition on Identity. Students presented Still Life artwork from Visual Arts class, an "All About Me" assignment from Spanish class, and/or a Vignette from Language and Literature. It was great to see so many family members join us to engage with students in this learning experience!
Grade 9
At an exhibition last month, students presented their original short stories and book cover designs for visiting family members!
Grade 11
The Language and Literature SL and HL units focus on the Harlem Renaissance. Throughout the unit, students spend time learning about the time period as well as analyze different genres of creative work - poetry, art, and literature. After studying various pieces of literature and art from the Harlem Renaissance, students participated in an exhibition called "Speak Out!" where they were tasked with creating an original piece that was inspired by one of these works. Students were asked: "What would you speak out about today? Why and How?"
🥖Bread Basketball
SGA is hosting the IB Campus' annual food drive from Nov 3- Nov 19. All donations will go towards CARES Cupboard in Langhorne, PA which provides service to Bucks County families in need. Each grade has been given a specific list to focus on, but all non perishable food items will be accepted and very much appreciated! Since this is part of a school contest, please mark your items with your student's name and grade level if you drop it off at the office. Thank you in advance! If there are any questions, please reach out to Ms. Paul at jpaul@schoollane.net.
🎤Open Mic Night
Please join us, patrons, performers, poets, artists, dancers, and comedians for the School Lane Charter School biannual Open Mic Night on November 21st from 6:00 – 8:00pm in the 3350 Tillman Drive building cafeteria for a thrilling, fun filled, low stress show put on by you! Audience members are welcome to sit, watch, purchase concessions and cheer on performers or audience members may prepare an act or several to go up and perform. This event is open to all SLCS students, families, staff, and friends of SLCS for $5 cash at the door. Bring extra for snacks and drinks! All non-SLCS community members are required to fill out this vetting form, along with bringing a valid ID and your SLCS community member, who will vouch for you. Bring a friend and see you there!

🍎Food Resources for Families
With the state of Pennsylvania and the federal government both experiencing budget impasses, and cause for concern about the reliability of SNAP payments moving forward, we wanted to share food resources for families that may be impacted by these situations.
If you are in a situation where you need support, please reach out to our Social Worker, Ms. Tyreeca Sanders at 215-245-6055 ext. 503 or tsanders@schoollane.org.
🎓 College & Career Day: Coming Soon!
The IB Campus' Annual College and Career Fair will be held on Friday, March 27th. Please consider volunteering your time letting our students know about your career path or place of employment. We would also appreciate you sharing this opportunity with family and friends. If you are interested in participating, please respond via this link so we can get in touch with you.
❗ Important Reminders
Attendance
Families must contact our Attendance Office via email (attendanceib@schoollane.org) for providing verification (notes or documentation) for each day absent within three (3) days of the student returning to school. An email message with a simple form to complete for the documentation is sent for any student who is absent. A maximum of ten (10) days of cumulative excused absences verified by parental notification shall be permitted during a school year. Students in grades 9-12 must attend school for 990 hours per school year as per state policy to receive course credit. Students who are absent in excess of 19 days (10% of the school year) during one school year are considered at risk for retention.
Transportation
Car Riders
- For morning drop-off, families enter the parking lot behind the 3340 building (4th entrance) and drive around to the front entrance. For afternoon pick-up, families will enter the 3340 back parking lot (4th entrance) starting at 3:00pm and wait for dismissal at 3:10pm. For student safety, please do not pick up students on Tillman Drive, at Carrabbas, at Extended Stay America, or on Street Road. Students may not be dropped off in front of 3350 between 7:30-8:15 am and 2:30-3:30 pm. This poses a major safety concern. We need your cooperation with our school policies for arrival and dismissal to keep all students safe.
Yellow Bus
- All school districts other than Philadelphia receive transportation from the sending school district. The Code of Conduct does extend to yellow busses and students can face school and transportation consequences for infractions that occur on the school bus and at bus stops.
SEPTA
- Students riding SEPTA buses catch the bus routes that stop at Street Rd. and Tillman Dr. Students who are eligible for SEPTA will receive a yearly TransPass through the School District of Philadelphia at the front desk.
