Deerfield Food Pantry
DEERFIELD FOOD PANTRY!
THANK YOU, Deerfield, for supporting our Deerfield Food Pantry!
Deerfield has a food pantry located in the main entrance across from the office. Parents/Guardians, you may enter through the main doors between 7:45am-3:15pm, grab a bag, and take items needed for your personal use. We stock non-perishable food items, hygiene items, as well as refrigerated snacks (when available). Families are encouraged to visit and take items as often as they need. Students may grab items on their way home at the end of their school day. Students know that this is NOT a snack station, so if a student needs a snack or meal during the school day, we have other options for them. Our food pantry is in collaboration with Just Foods of Douglas County, but NEARLY ALL of pantry items at Deerfield have been provided by the generous donations of PTO and our Deerfield community. AGAIN, we say THANK YOU!
Can't make it to the building to access the pantry? Have a bus rider? Contact the office and we can send pantry items home with your student!
If you have any pantry needs or other needs, please email us at Deerfield.Pantry@usd497.org and let us know. We have resources to help families in need.
*Donations must be dropped off in the office before being placed in the pantry for use.*

GO Time
We are excited to share that our GO Time (Growth Opportunity) groups have begun! All students are taking part in walk to intervention time in both math and ELA. These 30 minute blocks (four times per week) are designed to give targeted instruction to all students. Some students will stay in their homeroom, while others travel to a different grade level teacher. Based on screening and diagnostic testing results, teachers will focus their instruction on specific skills that will help students target learning gaps or enrich their learning beyond grade level material. We are dedicated to providing all students with the instruction they need to succeed!
Deerfield VIP's
Deerfield VIPs (Very Important People) is a volunteer opportunity aimed at adults who are important to our students. Deerfield VIPs can be individuals who serve as a positive role model in the life of any Deerfield student. As a Deerfield VIP, you will volunteer for your child's teacher/grade level in a variety of settings and complete a variety of tasks. For example: a Deerfield VIP could help supervise recess, work with small groups of students, and/or complete clerical tasks. The VIPs will receive a daily schedule for the amount of time they volunteer. We are welcoming VIPs into the building beginning Thursday, September 12 (VIP dates/times are at the discretion of the classroom teacher). Due to limited space, VIPs will not be able to stay for or to help with lunch in the cafeteria or attend specials. At this time, we're asking that VIPs only sign up for a maximum of 2 times for each of their students per semester to allow everyone plenty of opportunity to sign up if they wish.

Life is better with High Fives and Good Vibes!
Fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Red Pipe is September's High Five winner! Classroom student James Dorssom thinks Mrs. Red Pipe deserves a High Five "because she works with kids really well-she sets expectations and listens to us well."
Know a teacher or staff member who deserves a High Five? Nominations are now open for October and will be accepted through Tuesday, October 15. The winner receives a bouquet generously donated by Dillons at 6th & Lawrence Ave. The nominating student receives a pizza party for the class generously donated by Toppers Pizza. Students can fill out a paper form in the library or complete an online submission here: https://forms.gle/K59vX78cMufd1bvc8.
If your student nominated someone who didn't win, those nominations will still be considered in subsequent months during this school year.
