May 2025
Hello, May!
We've made it to May, the final month of the school year! That means it’s almost time for summer reading fun. This year’s theme, Create Your World, Design Your Story, invites you to explore your creativity, let your imagination soar, and help make the world a brighter place, one story at a time.
To kick things off, join us at Dips on the last day of school, Thursday, May 22! Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Wright Realty, every child will receive a free scoop of ice cream after school. Our library team will be there to help you sign up for summer reading with a prize just for registering and hand out your summer reading materials, complete with weekly reading trackers and creative challenges.
This 8-week adventure will take you through a rainbow of inspiration, with each week themed around a different color, all leading up to a colorful celebration at the end of summer. We can't wait to dive into a summer filled with color, creativity, and imagination with you.
But before we get there, there’s still plenty of fun packed into May. Take a look at everything coming up!
Pennley S.
Meet our May Kid Librarian, Pennley! Pennley is wrapping up her fourth-grade year at Danville South Elementary and is a cherished member of our Elementary Book Club. She’s especially excited for the launch of our new tween book club, The Story Squad, debuting this June!
A passionate reader, Pennley’s favorite books include Blended, Wonder, A Soft Place to Land, Wish, and Fern’s School for Wayward Fae. She loves spending time with her family and friends and brings a creative spark to everything she does.
Pennley spent three years as a competitive dancer, shining in lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop routines, while also training in ballet technique. She also enjoys traveling—some of her favorite destinations include Disney, Martha’s Vineyard, and Mexico!
At home, she stays active by jumping on the trampoline, hanging out with friends, and finding fun ways to express her creativity. She’s an animal lover with two dogs, Bella and Ruby, and four Madagascar hissing cockroaches! Pennley is also a model with the Helen Wells Agency and often works with Finish Line.
We’re thrilled to celebrate this imaginative and energetic young reader as our May Kid Librarian!
