Principal's Weekly Update
Week of May 19-23
Administrator's Message 🐾
Dear Wildcat Families,
We only have three weeks left in this school year - please make sure to remind your child to speak with their teachers about their grades. As the end of the year approaches, we have tons of events coming up!
Below are some important updates regarding our upcoming block party, MAP testing, and dance tickets.
We hope you will join us with your family this Thursday for our end of year block party - there will be food, music, games and prizes!
-Ms. Rivera & Ms. Rockwell
Celebrating Our Community's Diversity
The cities of Fairfield and Suisun City are two of the most diverse communities in California. To honor that diversity, each week FSUSD will be sharing information about the cultures that make up our extra special learning community.
May 21, 2025 is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development highlighting not only the richness of the world’s cultures, but also the essential role of intercultural dialogue for achieving peace and sustainable development.
The day provides us with an opportunity to deepen our understanding of the values of cultural diversity and to advance the four goals of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions adopted on 20 October 2005:
- Support sustainable systems of governance for culture
- Achieve a balanced flow of cultural goods and services and increase mobility of artists and cultural professionals
- Integrate culture in sustainable development frameworks
- Promote human rights and fundamental freedoms
BGW Happenings
National Guard Presentation 🚭
All 6--8th grade students engaged in the Operation Prevention presentations provided by the National Guard. The presenters reported high engagement, and we hope our students learned about the importance of being vigilant and saying no to drugs!
Last Practice 🧯
This week, we had our last schoolwide fire drill. All students did very well following staff directions, and classes resumed quickly after the all clear call was announced.
APE Prom 🎶
Our TAP students and staff attended the APE prom hosted by Armijo HS, where they danced and had a blast!
DI 8th Grade Celebration 🏅
Spring MAP Testing
This week, we will continue MAP testing in Math. These assessments, along with the California state tests, help us determine appropriate class placements and better support your student’s academic growth. Please take a moment to speak with your child about the importance of putting forth their best effort on these tests. Additionally, ensure that their Chromebooks are fully charged and ready for use each day of testing. Thank you for your continued support!
Summer School
This summer, BGW will not be hosting a summer program due to ongoing construction. However, students who qualify for the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program will be contacted about summer programming hosted by KI Jones Elementary. If you are interested in your student participating in the Expanded Learning Opportunity Program, please contact English Learners & Instructional Support at (707) 399-5023 or fsusd-elop@fsusd.org.
