Ott's Outlook
July 2025
I hope that your summer is off to a great start, and I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the progress of construction projects that are underway at multiple Temple ISD campuses. The current work is a continuation of the projects approved as part of the Bond 2022 proposal.
Hector P. Garcia Elementary, Kennedy-Powell Elementary, and Raye-Allen Elementary are all in the midst of additions and renovations. Each of those three campuses is gaining additional classroom spaces. Interior painting, safety upgrades and internal improvements are also in progress at each of those campuses and are on schedule to be completed prior to the beginning of the school year.
Classroom additions and the first phase of classroom renovations are underway at Western Hills Elementary and are also on schedule to be completed prior to the start of the school year. Additional phases of classroom renovations at Western Hills will continue over the next year.
At Scott Elementary, the new cafeteria/kitchen and classroom addition is on schedule to be completed prior to the start of the school year. Corridor flooring remediation is also underway and should be completed on that same schedule. Renovation and repurposing of the existing cafeteria and kitchen area into additional classroom space will take place over the next year.
On the middle school level, Bonham Middle School’s cafeteria/kitchen and library addition, along with some classroom renovations, are in progress and on schedule to be completed before school starts in August. Repurposing of the old cafeteria and library space into classroom space will take place over the next year, along with renovations to the boys and girls locker rooms. Competition fields at all three middle schools will be completed and ready for student use prior to the start of the school year.
Work is underway on the science lab addition at Temple High School and is expected to be completed by August of 2026. The final phase of renovation for some of the older existing athletic spaces at THS is also well underway and expected to be completed prior to the school year.
Renovations and improvements to the cafeteria/kitchen area, Ag Barn, golf and cheer locker rooms, restrooms and HVAC system at Temple High School are all in various stages of design and construction will start in the spring or summer of 2026.
Renovations at Edwards Academy and Wheatley DAEP have been completed, the Operations Center is under construction and should be completed in about a year and a half, and plans for improvements at Transportation and the Meridith-Dunbar ECA Auditorium are also in design.
Finally, the improvements at Wildcat Stadium are on schedule to be completed before the first football game in August. Those improvements include new seating, restroom improvements, concession stand enhancements, and press box renovations.
We are so grateful for the community’s support in approving these projects and so many of our students – both current and future – will benefit from the work that is underway and in the planning stages. Temple ISD continues to deliver on the promises made as part of this bond proposal and we are thrilled to be able to share this update on our progress. May you and yours continue to have a restful summer.
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
