Welcome to Small Middle School

Small GreenTech Academy: Small Middle School attracts students from all over Austin to our Environmental Sciences (Green) and pre-engineering Project Lead The Way (Tech) programs. Project-based courses make learning cooperative, engaging, and effective. Add to that our award winning Fine Arts and Athletic Departments, as well as our whole child approach and we are the school of choice.

We are an all inclusive school. Anyone that comes to Small is eligible for our Green Tech Academy Program. If you live in our attendance zone, you don't need to apply, just fill out your interest on the choice sheet. We do accept transfers for those of you that don't live in our zone. Come to a Zoom Q & A Meeting - We will have 3 dates to choose from. Register on our website.
We are limiting on campus tours and hope Steps 1 & 2 will answer all your questions. However, for those that really want to see the magic in person, we will offer a handful of on-campus tours this fall. Register on our website.

Additional Opportunities: We will be reaching out to elementary schools and coming to a campus near you. We hope to do after school presentations for students and parents for kids interested in coming to Small next year.

January 13, 2023 Application Deadline* – Last Day to Apply – Application to Small Green Tech Academy closes at 4:00 p.m. Items mailed for students outside AISD must have a date stamp by 4:00pm on this day. ALL Essay’s & Recommendations must be submitted through the application by this date.

February 6, 2023 Admission Decision Letters Mailed

February 17, 2023 Deadline for receipt of student’s decision letters accepting or rejecting admission

February 22, 2023 Celebration for all students who received acceptance letters, We will go over the choice sheets - 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. Zoom or on campus TBD

July 31st, 2023 Cougar Camp Starts

August 3rd, 2023 Campus Scavenger Hunt

August 3rd, 2023 Parent Camp

Meet Your 2023-2024 6th Grade Counselor

Hello Future Cougars! My name is Brilina Pursche and I am so thrilled to be your 6th Grade counselor next year. This was my first year at Small and I am so excited to inform you guys on all the cool classes they offer here! I am new to Austin, coming from Killeen, TX. I was a military brat growing up and spent the beginning years of my career in Education servicing that population. I have 4 kids and 4 bonus kids. Yes, a lot of kids! They keep me busy between cheer, softball, volleyball, and soccer. I love watching kids do what they love. Which is why I love my job as a counselor!
