Sharing the Joy!

A Farewell Note
Trees call to me. I'm not sure how I developed this affinity but, even as a young child I would seek solace and inspiration when surrounded by trees. I often think that learning communities resemble forest networks, particularly with what science tells us about how these beneficial plants may communicate and thrive. While made up of individuals, it is the collective that holds the power and vast beauty. Without each other, trees are more susceptible to damage and disease. They NEED each other to survive.
The "forest" of Essex Elementary, as well as the broader MERSD community, has been the most nurturing of communities with staff, families, community members and students willing to support, share and guide me as I became acclimated to the school. Everyone has been so open to new ideas, rolling up their sleeves to join in on the fun. I've seen deep caring, professionalism and decision-making with the best interests of students in mind. My days have been fulfilling, active and joy-filled.
As with forests, it is not one tree that defines the environment--it is the contributions of all. I'm confident that, as you welcome Kim Provost as the next principal, you will offer the same shelter and support that I've received. Together, your collective learning community is a special place for students to grow and belong. I will be forever grateful for my time spent within.

Off to the Middle School!
Our Moving Up ceremony was filled with heartfelt best wishes for the future as we celebrated our fifth graders' contributions over their time at EES. As staff held the best wishes of the underclassmen on hoops, students ran for their last time out our doors.
With each child comes a network of family members who have become dear to us as supporters, contributors and volunteers. For those families leaving us with their last child, we can't thank you enough for the kindness, consideration and care that you've brought to our learning community.
School Supply Lists
School supply lists for each grade level can be found online and in report cards. Want to contribute to EES and save yourself a little time? Participate in the Friends of EES School Supply Fundraiser. See the flyer below for more information.
