Birthday Celebration Policy
As we work towards creating a safe school environment for all of our students, we are implementing a new policy regarding birthday celebrations.
We kindly ask that no food items be brought to school for birthday celebrations. This decision aims to:
Ensure Health and Safety: With various food allergies and dietary restrictions among students, this measure helps us prevent potential health risks.
Alternative Celebration Ideas:
We encourage you to consider the following non-food alternatives to make your child's birthday special at school:
Classroom Donation: Donate a book or educational game to the classroom in your child's name.
Goodie Bags: Provide small, non-food items like stickers, pencils, or erasers for classmates.
Birthday Craft Kits: Send in simple craft kits for students to enjoy during a break.
All students will be celebrated in our classroom in various ways on their birthday and throughout their birthday month, or half month. We appreciate your understanding and collaboration in implementing this new policy.

Last Week's Photos
English Language Arts
Last week, students displayed such great resilience while taking a few reading and writing diagnostic tests. We balanced out our week with a book tasting at StarBOOKS Cafe and a classroom library scavenger hunt. Throughout the year, students will add onto their “want to read” list during similar activities. All students are expected to have an independent reading book with them at all times. Also, be sure to compliment your student on having good manners. During the StarBooks tasting, all students said “please” and “thank you” when I was serving lemonade and snacks.
This week, students will jump into our regular ELA weekly routines! I am excited! Typically, we will break our ELA periods into Reading in the morning and Writing in the afternoon. In Reading, we will work with non-fiction on Mondays, vocabulary on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and wrap up the week with short stories or novels. During September, we will focus on grammar during our afternoon Writing class periods.

Last week, students wrote about a time or place that makes them feel close to God. We reviewed the Liturgical Calendar, and we learned more about the steps to becoming a saint.
This week, students will learn more about five saints who celebrate their feast days in September. At the end of the week, we will jump into Unit One, Chapter One of our textbook, Christ Our Life. In this chapter, students will learn important background information about the Bible.

Honors: Last week, the students reviewed rules for decimal operations. Next week, they will review division rules and practice dividing by two and three digit divisors.
At Level: Last week, the class were introduced to ratios. They learned different forms for writing a ratio, and we emphasized that it was essential to pay attention to the words in the question. Next week, we will learn how to write equivalent ratios and how to determine if ratios are equal.
The summer math assessment on the Simple Solutions was returned Monday. The sheets are in the test folders. Please review the work. I have last year’s books if you need to see them.
