The Quincy High School Drama Club Proudly Presents

The Women of Troy By Euripides

Thursday, November 20 @7:30PM

Saturday, November 22 @ 2:00 PM and 7:30 PM
Sunday, November 23 @ 2:00 PM

Tickets: $5 for students and $10 General Admission

The Women of Troy is a Greek tragedy which takes place in the immediate aftermath of the Trojan War. The play is critiquing the atrocities committed by the Greek Army. Euripides shifts the perspectives from the male heroes of the epic tales of the Iliad and the Odyssey, to the affected women and children who suffered after the conflict. The play provides the contemporary and modern audience with a unique insight into the true cost of war. Due to the sensitivity of the material, The Quincy High Drama Club suggests The Women of Troy be for audiences 13 years and older.

Attendance Matters

Quincy Public Schools has kicked off the Attendance Matters campaign to remind students, families, and our community that being in school every day is the first step to success. From the first bell to the last day of school, consistent attendance helps students build strong learning habits, stay connected with friends and teachers, and make the most of every opportunity -- in the classroom, on the field, and in after-school activities.

You can view Attendance policies and get answer to frequently asked question on our Attendance Matters page and if you have any questions regarding the status of an absence or questions please contact your students Dean or Counselor.

Consistent attendance is crucial in high school as it directly impacts academic success, improves understanding of course material, and enhances engagement in class discussions. Regular attendance also helps students develop important life skills, like punctuality and responsibility, which are essential for future success.

Please be aware that in Massachusetts, chronic absenteeism is defined as missing 10% or more of school days.

High school students face specific academic and extracurricular consequences tied to attendance:
  • 4 or more unexcused absences in a single marking period results in a loss of 1.25 credits per course.

Important: Credit loss does not impact GPA or require the course to be repeated, but it may delay graduation if required credits are not recovered.

Your student’s up to date attendance report can be viewed on Aspen. Medical or Professional notes should be delivered to the QHS Health/Nurses Office in order to have the absences excused.

QHS Student Council Haunted Hallways QHS Student Council Haunted Hallways

The Quincy High School Student Council once again hosted its annual community event, “Haunted Hallways,” which was a resounding success and provided local families with a safe and festive trick-or-treating experience. The high school opened its doors to hundreds of elementary-aged children on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM, marking it as the most well-attended iteration yet. The event successfully transformed the high school campus into a memorable Halloween haven, hosted and staffed entirely by students from the drama club and student council. The main attraction featured door-to-door trick-or-treating, with students decorating the first floor classrooms into creatively themed stops. Another major highlight of the evening was a thrilling and age-appropriate special scary performance prepared and executed by the critically acclaimed QHS Drama Club, which received tremendous praise.

The Student Council extends its sincere gratitude to all the student volunteers, staff, and community members who supported this collaborative, student-led achievement.

For this unit, students created an initial hypothesis, explanation, and scientific model based on their own personal, lived experiences. Then, after each lesson, they revise each part of their model. Football

The Quincy High School football team put together a tremendous season, highlighted by earning their first home playoff game since 2005. In a thrilling first-round matchup of the Division 2 tournament, the Presidents battled a tough Chelmsford team in a game that went down to the wire. Quincy came agonizingly close to capturing the program’s first-ever MIAA playoff win, but the Lions escaped with an 18-13 victory after a late trick play set up the winning touchdown with just over two minutes remaining. Despite the heartbreaking finish, it was an incredible showing for the team and a season filled with pride, grit, and growth. The Presidents will now turn their attention to the highly anticipated Thanksgiving Day clash against crosstown rival North Quincy.

Girls Volleyball

The Quincy High School girls volleyball team had another very successful season, continuing their tradition of excellence on the court. Once again, the team earned a spot in the MIAA tournament, a testament to the hard work, talent, and determination of our student-athletes. Entering the tournament as the #30 seed, the team faced a challenging road matchup against the #3 ranked Shrewsbury, one of the toughest teams in the state. Despite the odds, the girls battled with heart and resilience, giving Shrewsbury everything they had. While they ultimately fell just short, their performance demonstrated the grit, teamwork, and competitive spirit that has become the hallmark of Quincy volleyball. The season was filled with memorable moments, hard-fought victories, and countless displays of skill and sportsmanship. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to Coach Niosi and all of her assistant coaches for their dedication, guidance, and commitment to helping our athletes grow both on and off the court. Their hard work each and every day has played a major role in the continued success of this program. We are incredibly proud of this team and look forward to seeing what the future holds as they continue to build on another remarkable season.

The History Docent Program at Quincy High had their first training on November 7th and will continue with their second training on December 16th. They have 80% of new members this year, and they jumped right in doing real history interpretation as shown in the pictures. Very impressive!

Quincy Public Schools’ History Docent Program takes advantage of one of the country's richest Historical Cities: our very own Quincy, MA--The City of Presidents. Each year history docents work with the city’s historian Bob Damon and various experts in the field, to research and rework an interpreters script for a local historical site. They then present to History students from both High Schools and the public. Over the past year, the History Docents have been active participants in various Quincy 400 Celebrations. They were interpreters during the Family History Walk and have helped develop curriculum for elementary students who will visit the Quincy 300 exhibit at City Hall. This year docents will be working with multiple historical sites and organizations to curate a gallery that will be viewable by the general public in addition to presenting to History classes.

Please see Ms. Twomey in Room D123 and Dr. Simmons in D312 for an application to join the club!
